AFC Halfway UTD

Just want to say a massive thank you to all players , coaches and supporters for another great season ,

Now we’ve come to the end of only our 2nd season as a club we have devolved and grown so much and the improvements will not end there ,

We have had a great 2nd season with some fantastic results along with a couple of bad ones but the improvements are there for all to see and things are only going to get better as we continue on this journey in Sunday league football

Things are only just beginning for us

Here are some pictures Of our final game of the season against a strong Howden team who finished 2nd in the league and a good team performance resulting in a 2-2 draw meaning we have taken 4pts of a very good team this season home and away so credit to all the lads for the hard work

Sadly no game once again this weekend due to the weather, but that doesn’t mean we rest another training session for the lads with a great turn out once again , well done lads keep up the hard work

Today we finally got to get a game as we travelled to Goole to face of against unbeaten FC HOWDEN

With a couple of late drop outs from squad and a no show we went into the game with only 2 substitutes available,

The first 15 of game was very scrappy but once we kickstarted our passing game we soon calmed down,
Howden put us under a lot of pressure but our back for of Dim, Brook,Kieran and Jordan stayed calm and in full control aswell as goalkeeper Max pulling out a couple of world class saves to keep the game score less,

The first half saw very little chance for our lone forward Ewan and our only shot in the first half was calmly put away by him taking us to half time 1 nil up

The second half started with Howden putting the team under a lot of pressure but our midfield with some outstanding passing and moving and defence stood tall and carried on from the first half , both teams had a lot of chances in the 2nd half and as the minutes ticked away we saw Filipe break onto a lovely through ball from Jacob Smith and to make it 2-0 to Halfway with 10 minutes to play ,

As the minutes ticked away Howden pressure did not ease and was awarded a very questionable free kick just outside the book and they took the chance to make it 2-1 ,

In the dying minutes we had a couple more chances to seal the victory but unfortunately we did not take them and the ended with us taking a very well earned points and ended Howdens unbeaten run

A special mention to Max for some outstanding goal keeping which saw him been awarded the referee’s Player of match award

A true team performance with some fantastic football played
