Sport Welfare Officers 03/09/2026

๐Ÿ“ข From 1 September 2026, significant changes to the definition of regulated activity with children take effect across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The changes will strengthen safeguarding arrangements for children, including those involved in sport and physical activity, ensuring protections keep pace with the realities of how children engage in organised activities today.

For sports clubs, activity providers, governing bodies and employers, now is the time to review policies, recruitment processes and DBS checking practices to ensure compliance with the new requirements. Find out more ๐Ÿ‘‡

It's back to school so why not make the school run more FUN and ACTIVE?

Walking, cycling or scooting with your children boosts their energy and helps them start the day alert and focused.

Wheels for All in partnership with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority are inviting people from across South Yorkshire to join them for the South Yorkshire Inclusive Cycling Network Meeting.

Theyโ€™re particularly keen to welcome people working in:

๐Ÿฅ Healthcare & public health
๐Ÿšฒ Cycling & active travel
๐Ÿ›๏ธ Local government & transport
๐Ÿค Community and disability organisations
๐Ÿƒ Sport & physical activity

โ€ฆbut you donโ€™t have to work in any of these areas to be part of the conversation!

If youโ€™re a decision-maker, commissioner, policymaker, advocate or influential voice who can help raise awareness of inclusive cycling and make it more accessible to disabled people or people living with long-term health conditions, weโ€™d love to have you in the room.

They are also particularly keen to hear from people with lived experience of disability who have found cycling or physical activity beneficial. Your experiences, insights and ideas are vital to helping us understand what needs to change โ€” and whatโ€™s already working.

This is an opportunity to connect, share ideas, learn from one another and explore how we can work together to make inclusive cycling more accessible across South Yorkshire.
