It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, so we’re taking the chance to share some really helpful resources from Mind. They’re full of great support and advice for anyone involved in sport and physical activity—whether you’re taking part, coaching, or supporting others.

These are available to sports clubs and activity providers who want to support the mental health and wellbeing of their staff, volunteers and participants.

Take action this and have a look a Mind’s dedicated page for sport and physical activity to see if you can be doing more.

We welcome not-for-profit groups to attend, especially those who wouldn't normally access this funding and have project ideas.

Deaf Awareness Week began this week, and this year's theme is "Right to Understand: Together We Break Barriers." The theme calls for not only greater awareness, but meaningful understanding and action.

As part of this, YSF Welfare Officer, Measha, has created a British Sign Language (BSL) version of our Sport Welfare support offer, helping to make vital information more accessible.

You can find out how the Active Partnerships Sport Welfare Officer Network can support sports clubs and activity providers to strengthen safeguarding practices and develop a positive welfare culture in our newsletter.

YSF CYP lead Adam Fuller gave the team an overview of Active Start. This programme is vital in getting the under-5s moving more to support school readiness: "Physical Development in the Early Years is the foundation for active habits throughout life, as well as giving good levels of development.

"It is important we understand and are able to support settings working with our youngest people across Yorkshire. They need to feel confident and comfortable in promoting active learning and active play."
