Tadcaster 1 Rothwell Juniors 5
Definitely the old cliche ‘a game of two halves’ today.
1st half playing into a strong head wind the lads for the most part played through the thirds by moving the ball quickly resulting in a 3-1 half time lead.
However 2nd half we didn’t capitalise in using the wind to our advantage but instead resorted to one man football, too many touches, and shooting from anywhere.
With around 7 minutes to go, we again started to move the ball around quickly, and ended up scoring another two goals.
Tough conditions today for the lads, but we’ve got to keep our standards throughout the game and not let them slip. Mentions today for Cam and Jay who worked hard and linked up well.
MOM today was Ryan who was solid in both positions and worked tirelessly.
On to the next 💪🏻🔴⚫️

It was all about the cup yesterday for our Under 16’s and in unusual circumstances (not that unusual if you know the history of this team) we played our home tie at Wheldrake FC.
A massive thank you for hosting us.
Well we sure know how to give ourselves mountains to climb…..
I thought we started well and again were unlucky not to get 2 or even 3 up after 20 minutes. Their 1st real attack just about summed it up when we give the ball away needlessly in an attacking throw in position……Ryan reads the danger well but then slips to give possession in the centre circle then we get 2 opportunities to clear our lines but somehow manage to present the ball to their midfielder who from 25 yards pings it in clipping the underside of the bar.
If that doesn’t sum it up then their 2nd does when I think with their 1st corner we don’t communicate at the near post and we are 2-0 to a team who’s had 1 shot 🤷♂️
We rallied the boys at half time and with Fin and Kaiden coming from the bench and changing to a 3-5-2 formation we challenged them to get it back to 2-2 within 20 minutes and to be fair to the lads we showed great character to pin them back and within 10 it was 2-2 thanks to a great strike from Cameron and an opportunist goal from Kaiden following up well from a great effort from Jay.
We looked for all the world like we’d blow them away and when Bobby swivelled to put us 3-2 up I was confident we’d get a 4th and put it to bed. We huffed and puffed and created half a dozen good half chances but couldn’t find the elusive goal.
We had one moment of defensive danger when again they had a great strike from the edge of the box but a fantastic save from Flynn tipped it onto the post.
We started to get a bit niggly and give silly free kicks away and unfortunately failed to get 1st contact on one but it still took a cool cushioned volley into the bottom corner off the post.
It looked like extra time but we played them at their own game and a long punt from Flynn caught their centre halves out and an on rushing Bobby went through and he very calmly found the corner of the net to put us through to the quarters.
A few playing with niggles and colds today so big up to them for getting through it.
We’ve got Goole Town next up in the quarter final in January.

We kept up our 100% record yesterday in a tight 3-2 victory against our local friends from Methley.
Credit to our opponent who put in a great performance throughout and made it a difficult game.
We were a little bit off it in all 3 departments but we showed character and quality in the vital moments to get the deserved 3 points.
Our defence looked solid most of the time but we were guilty of over playing at times and any opportunities they got came from our errors.
In midfield we looked a bit leggy and they were more up for the challenge. Having said that when we broke through midfield we turned their defence around.
In the final 3rd we just weren’t clinical enough. Our final ball was a bit off and we missed 4 or 5 guilt edged chances.
But we worked hard enough to get the win and we will hopefully learn from it.
Player of the match today went to Ryan who was at the centre of everything positive in the 1st half with some intelligent link up play and 2 or 3 key passes then slotted back in at right back to control where most of their attacks were coming down. Reading the game well and making vital interventions.
3 back to back games against Snaith incoming so let’s keep the momentum rolling.

Another win yesterday with what in the end turned out to be a comfortable 6-2 victory away at North Duffield.
Big effort from the lads as we were down to bare bones and players playing out of position and others playing through knocks.
Man of the match went to Charlie Cammidge who is Mr Consistency at the minute and provided assists and a goal.
No game next week before a top of the table clash against our neighbours at Methley.

Our unbeaten run continued this morning with a deserved victory over Elvington thanks to goals from Leo, Cameron, Jay and Connor.
We played some great stuff in patches but were also guilty of over complicating things at times.
Player of the match went to Dunny for a good all round display. Worked hard out of possession to win the ball back and made good decisions with the ball. He constantly made runs that dragged their players of of shape and we were guilty at times of not finding him in good positions.
Cup game away at Crowle next week ❤️🖤
