Lill lights up Derby with match winning double
Match Report: Tingley Athletic Blacks 4–2 Tingley Athletic Greens
Derby days always carry a bit of electricity, and this one sparked into life straight away. The Greens started quickly, full of energy and intent, while the Blacks took a little time to find their rhythm. For a few minutes, the game felt like it might run away from them — until a few smart tactical changes settled the group and brought calm back into their play.
Once they found their feet, the Blacks began to grow into the match. Their first real moment came when Eze Afoakwah finished at close range after fantastic through ball and cross to make it 1–0, a goal that lifted the entire team. But the Greens, who had started so brightly, hit back against the run of play with an equaliser for 1–1, keeping the derby tension alive.
The response from the Blacks was full of character. They stayed brave, kept playing, and pushed again. Their reward came through Ben Hutchinson, who showed great composure to restore the lead at 2–1, a moment that shifted the momentum firmly in their favour.
Then came the spell that defined the afternoon — and the player who lit it up.
With the game finely balanced, Jacob Lill stepped forward and delivered the kind of impact that changes matches. His first goal, making it 3–1, was all about timing and confidence. His second, stretching the lead to 4–1, was a striker’s finish full of instinct and belief. Two goals, both huge, both delivered when the team needed them most.
The Greens grabbed a late goal for 4–2, but by then the Blacks had already shown their resilience, togetherness, and growing maturity. They saw the game out with pride, control, and a sense of identity that’s becoming stronger every week.
Man of the Match: Jacob Lill
Two goals, massive influence, and a second‑half performance full of belief. A day he’ll carry with him — and one his teammates won’t forget.

Oats shows his teeth bagging a brace as Tingley move into second
Tingley Blacks powered into second place with a commanding 3–1 victory over Middleton, a performance built on control, intensity, and a sparkling brace from the in‑form Billy Oats.
Tingley set the tone from the first whistle, pressing high and moving the ball with real purpose. Their early dominance was rewarded when Oats reacted quickest inside the box, guiding home the opener to give the Blacks a deserved lead. The momentum stayed firmly with Tingley, and then came the moment of the match.
Picking up the ball in a tight area, Oats drove at the Middleton defence, gliding past challenges before producing a moment of pure class—lifting a cool, composed chip over the onrushing keeper to make it 2–0. It was a finish full of confidence and a reminder of just how influential he has become.
Middleton rallied and pushed hard to find a way back into the game, but it wasn’t their day. Tingley struck again when a dangerous cross caused chaos, with Ben Hutchinson reacting quickest as the Middleton keeper parried the ball into his path, allowing him to make it 3–0 and effectively seal the points.
With the game seemingly wrapped up, Tingley will know they need to manage proceedings better—staying compact, disciplined, and switched on. A late Middleton consolation didn’t change the story of the afternoon: this was a deserved and well‑earned victory.
A strong team display, a standout performance from Man of the match Oats, and a result that sends Tingley climbing into second with real momentum behind them.

Tingley Blacks Power Into the Final With a Commanding 3–0 Win Over Normanton Prostars
Tingley Blacks secured their place in the final with a performance built on control, confidence, and real quality, sweeping aside Normanton Prostars 3–0 in a dominant semi‑final showing.
Right from kick‑off, Tingley imposed themselves. Their intensity without the ball and calmness in possession pushed Prostars deep, and the early pressure paid off. A sharp move down the right created space, and Ben Hutchinson rose brilliantly to head home the opener, settling any nerves and giving Tingley full control of the tie. Moments later, Ben struck again — a superb low finish into the bottom corner — doubling the lead and putting the Blacks firmly in command.
The second half underlined everything that has defined this squad’s development this season: discipline, bravery on the ball, and a collective hunger to dominate big moments. The midfield dictated the rhythm, the back line stayed organised and untroubled, and the wide players stretched the game intelligently.
Tingley wrapped things up with a beautifully constructed team goal. Crisp passing opened the pitch, Jacob Lill drove dangerously down the left, and his movement created the opening for Ezekiel Afoakwah to fire home clinically, leaving the Prostars keeper with no chance. At 3–0, the Blacks refused to ease off, continuing to press high and win second balls all over the pitch.
The performance was a perfect reflection of the team’s mentality: aggressive, switched on, and ruthless. A turnover in midfield sparked another quick transition, and the finishing throughout the game was emphatic — a fully deserved victory that sparked celebrations on the touchline.
Defensively, Tingley were outstanding. Every player contributed, from the first line of pressure to the last defender. The clean sheet was earned through concentration, communication, and teamwork.
When the final whistle blew, there was no doubt: Tingley Blacks had been superior in every department. Their place in the final is a testament to their hard work, togetherness, and belief — and on this evidence, they head into it with real momentum and confidence.
A special mention all our sponsors including C&M Builders, whose support continues to mean so much to the team. Having them pitch‑side today, cheering the boys on from the first whistle to the last, gave the players an extra lift on a huge occasion. Their backing is genuinely appreciated by everyone at Tingley Blacks.
