⛳️ Course update - The greens have had a double cut today and are looking great in the sunshine. ☀️

Elsewhere on the course, the fairway mower has been out, tees have been cut, and the tee banks are looking tidy. Approaches and collars have also been cut and are looking sharp.

We’re working hard to bring out more definition across the course and keep everything looking its best. 👌

🌱 WINTER DISEASE PREP 🏌️‍♂️

Today we’ve started our winter plant-health programme on the greens. The greens were single cut first to remove excess growth and give us a clean, even surface before spraying.

The tractor-mounted boom sprayer is now out, applying a combination of Mantle, Liquid Turf Hardener and Turfite Elite. These products work together to strengthen the plant, support cell-wall development, provide key micronutrients and encourage the turf’s natural defence responses.

This is all part of our Integrated Turf Management approach heading into the months when conditions can increase pressure from diseases such as Microdochium. The aim is to keep the plant strong, healthy and resilient rather than relying solely on fungicides.

🌱 GREENS UPDATE 🏌️‍♂️

Today, we’ve cut the greens after allowing them time to rest while the seed germinated, established and began developing roots. 🌱

Leaving the greens to recover before cutting is important, as cutting too early can put stress on young seedlings, potentially damaging developing plants and affecting establishment.

The mower is now back up and running with freshly sharpened blades and cylinder, allowing for a clean and precise cut. Today, we double-cut the greens, and they’re looking really healthy and in great condition! 👌

Our maintenance week went really well, with great seed coverage across the greens and plenty of grass seed now popping through. This puts us in a strong position heading into winter and sets us up well for next season. 💪🌱

🌱 GREENS & COURSE UPDATE 🏌️‍♂️

Yesterday the greens had their first single cut since renovations and seeding. We’re keeping cutting to a minimum at the moment to avoid putting unnecessary stress on the young seed and to give it the best chance to establish and develop.

Today we top dressed the greens with 18 tonnes of sand — 1 tonne per green. This was brushed in to help fill the remaining holes from coring and cover the seed lines, helping to create good contact between the seed and growing medium.

The big positive today was seeing signs of the seed starting to pop through 🌱 — exactly what we want to see!

There’s still plenty of cutting to catch up on, with the rough mower out on the course and the tees and tee surrounds cut. 💪

🌱 GREENS MAINTENANCE UPDATE 🏌️‍♂️

A single pass of R9 treated seed was applied to the greens today.

Although we seeded during maintenance week last week, this follow-up pass helps increase seed coverage and establishment following the renovation work. With the greens having been hollow-cored, topdressed and brushed, there are plenty of open holes and areas where fresh seed can establish.

The aim is to encourage new grass growth, improve density and help the greens recover strongly going into the winter and next season. 🌱🏌️‍♂️

🌱 MAINTENANCE WEEK COMPLETE! 🏌️‍♂️

It’s been a solid effort from the lads this week, with early starts and late finishes to get the work completed. 💪

Towards the back end of the week, we seeded all 18 greens with R9 seed using the spreader, followed by 2 tonnes of sand per green — a massive 36 tonnes of topdressing applied across the greens.

We then used the Sweep & Fill brush to work the sand down into the holes, helping to fill the aeration holes and improve the playing surface.

We’ve also applied C-Complex 4-3-4 fertiliser, supplying a balanced source of nutrients to support root development, recovery and healthy growth as the greens head into the winter. The fertiliser was watered in with 6 minutes of irrigation initially and will continue to be watered during the night to help dissolve and wash the nutrients into the soil.

All of this work is important going forward, helping the greens recover from the season, strengthen going into winter and put us in a much better position for healthy, stronger greens next year. 🌱🏌️‍♂️

⛳️ GREENS RENOVATIONS HAVE STARTED! 🏌️‍♂️

What a busy couple of days on the golf course! Our new Toro ProCore 648s has been out on the greens using hollow tines supplied by Sports Metals.

We’ve cored the greens to 60mm deep and 60mm spacing, removing over 36 tonnes of cores — around 2 tonnes per green! This helps reduce compaction and thatch, improve air and water movement, encourage stronger rooting and create space for fresh material.

The Ventrac brush was then used to move the cores to the ends of the greens before loading them into the trailer. We scarified and single cut the greens to remove unwanted organic material, tidy the surface and encourage fresh growth.

We’ve also applied Thatch Zyme to help break down organic matter and Fiata Boost to support recovery and plant health. The sprinklers were then switched on after spraying to help wash the products into the surface. 💦🌱

🔜 Next up: Top dressing, brushing the sand into the holes and seeding. This will help improve the greens’ structure, drainage, consistency and grass coverage, setting them up for winter and next season. 🌱

The golf course has really greened up with the rain we’ve had recently 🌧️🌱

After a very warm summer with very little rainfall, the course was looking brown everywhere just a week ago — now it’s great to see everything starting to green up again! 👍

There’s plenty of cutting to catch up on now. Greens are looking good, tees have been cut, approaches are looking good, and the collars and surrounds around the greens have been cut and the fairways.

The rough will also be getting cut over the coming days. Plenty to keep us busy! 💪⛳️
