The RFU has announced that the start of the competitive community rugby season in England will be delayed until the week commencing Monday 21st September.

This is not unexpected ☹️

Following the announcement of our new Club Captain, we want to say a HUGE thank you to the man stepping down - Karl McGee.

What a shift from this chap, 4 seasons leading from the front on and off the pitch.

Speaking to Karl, he said the following -
" It has been an absolute privilege to have been named Club Captain for the previous 4 seasons. I would like to pass on my thanks to everyone who has helped and supported me along the way. I wish Sam all the success possible and I am looking forward to putting on the shirt again for another season".

We are pleased to introduce our Club Captain for the 2026/27 season - SAM LEGG (Sam Legg )

Sam, is exactly what grassroots rugby is all about - a true Clubman who has progressed through the club from Minis, Juniors, colts and into Seniors.

This is what Sam has had to say about his new role -

" I am honoured to have been named captain for my childhood club, which I’ve been a part of since under 5s. I'm looking forward to leading my team from the front and putting my body on the line every week alongside my teammates to make our team and club better.”

We all wish Sam the very best for the season ahead!!

Another busy night for us at Melton RFC.......

🏉 Touch Rugby for the U11's upwards, girls and boys (6.30pm till 7.30pm)

🏉 Pre-Season training continues for Colts & Seniors
(7pm till 8.30pm)

🌟 Both the Touch and Pre-Season sessions are an ideal starting place for anyone looking to start their rugby journey, get back on the pitch, or just simply come and see what we are all about 🌟

👩‍🍳 The Shooting Chefs are in the kitchen, cooking up their magic, ready for the players after training, plus any of our visitors.

🍀 The JULY 250 club draw is tonight - this is an amazing fundraiser for our club, helping towards the ever growing costs of running the club. Good luck to all those that have purchased a number - your support is greatly appreciated.
