Just because someone did you wrong...

..doesn't mean they get to shape the rest of your life.

1. It doesn't mean your future has to suffer because of their actions.
You are not the outcome of one person's choices. You are still responsible for what you become.

2. It doesn't mean they deserve permanent space in your mind and heart.
Dwell on what brings you peace, because whatever occupies your mind eventually shapes your life.

3. It doesn't mean you can never trust again.
Don't make innocent people pay for wounds they didn't create. Don't bleed on those who never cut you.

4. It doesn't mean you cannot heal.
No one has the power to permanently destroy you unless you surrender your future to your past.

Forgiveness doesn't always mean reconciliation.
Healing doesn't mean forgetting.
Trust may need to be rebuilt.

But never give someone so much power that one chapter with them becomes the title of your entire story.

Rise. Advance. Become.

WHEN THE KIDS ARE LEAVING HOME - Empty Nesters...almost ❤️

My husband and I have been talking about this a lot lately.

In just a few months, we'll officially become empty nesters. It's a strange thought.

It got me thinking...

When does parenting actually end?

When they go off to university? When they move into their own place? When they get married? Or... never? 😂

I think the answer is never.

Parenting simply evolves.

You stop tying shoelaces and start helping them navigate life's biggest decisions. You stop telling them what time to be home and start waiting for the phone call that lets you know they're safe. You become less of a manager and more of a coach, mentor and biggest cheerleader.

The role changes. The conversations change. The needs change.

But the love... never does.

Here's to embracing the next chapter together. ❤️

Parents of adult children, what's one piece of advice you'd give us as we prepare for the next chapter? ❤️

IS UNIVERSITY STILL THE BEST WAY FORWARD FOR THIS GENERATION?

There was a time when the answer seemed obvious.

Go to university.
Get a degree.
Land a well-paid job.
Build a successful career.

For many people, that path worked.
But the world has changed.

As technology continues to evolve and AI reshapes the workplace, some jobs are disappearing, others are changing beyond recognition, and entirely new careers are emerging. It raises an important question...

Should every young person still follow the traditional university route?

Take industries such as marketing, digital media and the creative sector. A young person may spend three or four years studying, only to graduate into a job market that looks very different from when they started. In some of these industries, employers increasingly value practical experience, digital skills, portfolios and real-world results alongside—or sometimes even more than—a degree.

Thirty years ago, having a degree made you stand out.

Today, far more people have degrees, meaning a bachelor's degree alone may not provide the same advantage it once did. In some professions, postgraduate qualifications have become the new way of demonstrating specialist expertise.

Of course, there are careers where university remains essential. We need doctors, engineers, lawyers, nurses, architects, teachers and many other professionals whose roles require extensive academic study before entering practice.

But there are also industries where learning on the job, completing an apprenticeship, building a portfolio or gaining practical experience can be just as valuable.

There is another question I think we should be asking ourselves...

Should every young person aim to become an employee, or should we also encourage some to become employers?

Some young people already have ideas that solve real problems. They are creative, innovative and entrepreneurial. If they already have a viable business idea, should we also be helping them explore that path?

There are grants, start-up loans and business support programmes designed to help young entrepreneurs. Imagine a young person building something meaningful, creating jobs for others and living a life of purpose doing work they genuinely love.

And if that business journey doesn't go to plan, university will still be there. Mature students prove every year that education has no age limit.

One of my biggest concerns is that our education system still teaches children how to prepare for employment far more than it teaches them how to create employment.

Just as many parents invest in extra Maths, English or Science tuition, perhaps we should also consider investing in business education, financial literacy, leadership and entrepreneurship.

This isn't about saying university is no longer valuable.

It's about recognising that there is no longer one definition of success.

Some young people will thrive at university.

Some will flourish through apprenticeships.

Some will build successful businesses.

Some will combine education with entrepreneurship.

Our role as parents isn't to push one particular path.

It's to help our children discover the path that best fits their strengths, ambitions and the world they are growing into.

The world has changed.

Perhaps the conversations we have with our children need to change too.

Food for thought.

HOLIDAYS AFTER 40 ✈️☀️🍹

The excitement was tangible. The smiles hide nothing.

For weeks, our conversations had revolved around the important things in life...ofcourse

"What are the exact bag dimensions our airline allows?" 🤣
"Have you packed your European adapter?"
"Don't forget to exchange your money."
"Download your boarding pass to your phone!"
"Have you packed sunscreen? A sun hat? Swimwear?"

Some had packed weeks in advance.
Some packed a few days before.
And some... let's just say the suitcase was still open a few hours before we left! 😂😂

But one thing was certain...
We all made it to the airport on time, full of excitement and ready for whatever adventure awaited us.

And the trip? It did not disappoint.
The girls certainly did not disappoint either. ❤️

There comes a point in life when you realise holidays are no longer just about the destination.
They're about the conversations that somehow become therapy sessions.🤣

They're about resting without guilt, embracing joy without apology, and remembering that life is meant to be lived, not just worked through.

Here's to more adventures, more laughter, and more passport stamps. ✈️❤️

"What do holidays mean to you now compared to your twenties?"

CREATE SPACES THAT HELP YOU BECOME

Recently, I travelled with a group of friends. Something unexpected happened.

Going away to a different country created spaces we don't usually have in our everyday lives.

Spaces to dream bigger.

Spaces to challenge each other's thinking.

Spaces to share ideas.

Spaces to laugh until we cried.

Spaces to encourage one another.

Spaces to talk honestly about life, purpose, careers, business, family, and the women we are still becoming. It reminded me that growth isn't always found in a course or a conference.

Sometimes, it's found around a dinner table, on a boat trip, over breakfast, by the pool or simply sitting in the hotel lobby with people who genuinely want to see you win.

Who you spend time with matters.
The right people don't compete with your dreams—they expand them.

They remind you of what's possible, challenge you to think differently, celebrate your wins, and gently call you higher when you've started settling.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about The Becoming Room.

We all need spaces where we can grow, be encouraged, be challenged, and become more than we currently believe is possible.

Because becoming is rarely a solo journey.

Find your people.

Create intentional spaces.

And never stop becoming.

Rise. Advance. Become.

MIDLIFE PIVOT - The Midlife Audit

Someone recently asked me what I meant when I said I was going through a midlife pivot.

Many people call it a midlife crisis. I don't.
A crisis suggests you're falling apart.
What I'm experiencing feels more like waking up.
Waking up and taking an honest look at my life.

The career that once excited you.
The friendships you've outgrown.
The way you've neglected your health.
The dreams you quietly buried.
The life you've been living on autopilot.

Then the uncomfortable questions begin.

Is this still making me happy?
Am I living intentionally, or am I simply surviving?
If nothing changes, is this really how I want to spend the next twenty or thirty years of my life?

For me, this season isn't about buying a sports car or pretending I'm twenty-five again.
It's about alignment.
Protecting my health.
Creating better work-life balance.
Building multiple income streams.
Planning for retirement with intention.
Choosing peace over pressure.
Spending more time with the people I love.
Becoming the woman I was too busy surviving to become.

Perhaps what we sometimes call a midlife crisis is actually wisdom arriving.
Not to destroy your life...
But to invite you to build one that finally reflects the person you've become.

Maybe midlife isn't the beginning of the end.
Maybe it's the beginning of becoming.

MIDLIFE DOESN'T ASK, "HOW OLD ARE YOU?"

IT ASKS, "HOW DO YOU WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?"

Welcome to the Midlife Audit.

Rise. Advance. Become.

RELATIONSHIP 101-The Danger of Keeping Score

One of the most destructive habits in marriage is keeping score... not on paper, but in your heart.

It sounds like this:

"Don't forget I helped you pay your university fees."

"I left my career so you could build yours."

"When your parents needed help, I supported them. Now it's your turn to support mine."

"I've forgiven you for your affair. You owe me for the rest of your life."

"I've been paying the bills for years while you've had it easy."

"After everything I've done for you, this is how you repay me?"

Some of these statements may be factually true.

But when they become weapons during conflict, love slowly turns into DEBT COLLECTION.

Marriage is not a bank account where every sacrifice earns credit and every mistake creates lifelong repayment.

Yes, healthy marriages require accountability.

Yes, both people should contribute.

But if every act of kindness comes with an invoice, it stops being love and starts becoming a transaction.

The strongest marriages understand something important.

Sometimes one person will carry more.

Sometimes the other will.

Over the course of decades, the scales will rarely balance perfectly.

The goal isn't to make sure every sacrifice is repaid.

The goal is to build a marriage where both people willingly give, knowing they are on the same team.

Because once you start keeping score, somebody always loses.

And eventually...

The marriage does too.

Discussion:

Have you ever seen a marriage damaged because one or both partners kept reminding the other of past sacrifices?

Where do you think healthy accountability ends and scorekeeping begins?
