Match Report: Fradley Fireflys v Lichfield Lightning

Lichfield Lightning burst out of the blocks, starting the game brightly and making excellent use of the wings to stretch the Firefly’s defence. Despite Lichfield’s early dominance, it was Fradley Firefly’s who took the lead just before half-time with a deflected goal against the run of play.

The second half belonged almost entirely to Lichfield. They pushed relentlessly for an equaliser, applying constant pressure, and were finally rewarded midway through the half. Just five minutes later, Lichfield struck again to take a deserved lead.

From there, Lichfield shut up shop, with the defence dealing confidently with everything Fradley threw at them. It was a great result and a strong all-round performance from Lichfield Lightning.

The Stars were involved in a thrilling and nerve racking game today, coming out on top with a 6–5 win against Blurton Reds.

The first half was full of action, with the Stars taking a 5–3 lead thanks to goals from Emilia and Lacey (4), supported by excellent assists from Adriana (2), Emilia, and Xanthe.

However, the Stars showed great character and composure, with Emilia scoring the decisive goal after a brilliant assist from Belle to make it 6–5. The final seven minutes were tense, but the girls stayed strong and held on to secure all three points.

Match Report: Lichfield City Griffins U12s vs Cottage Farm Rangers U12s

Date: 24/01/26
Venue: Beacon Park Sports Field, Lichfield

Lichfield City Griffins U12s produced a huge performance today, showing resilience, teamwork and belief to secure a superb 4–2 comeback win against Cottage Farm Rangers U12s.

With only one substitute available, the girls faced a tough challenge from the outset and found themselves 2–0 down early on. Despite this, heads never dropped. The team stayed composed, worked tirelessly for each other and gradually began to take control of the game.

The comeback began when Vicky pulled a goal back to make it 1–2, giving the team momentum and belief. That belief was rewarded shortly after with a special moment — Erin, making her debut appearance, came off the bench and calmly scored her first goal for the Griffins to level the match at 2–2. A fantastic achievement and a moment to remember.

The Griffins continued to press, and before half-time Vicky struck again to put the team 3–2 ahead, completing a remarkable first-half turnaround.

In the second half, the girls showed maturity beyond their years, managing the game well and working hard defensively. The pressure finally told when Sophie F found the net to make it 4–2, sealing a fully deserved victory. Sophie F was awarded Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.

The Parents’ Player award was shared between Elena and Aleigha after a tie vote, recognising the huge contributions both players made throughout the match.

Considering the team has not played competitive fixtures for several weeks and has been rebuilt gradually over the course of the season, this performance was nothing short of fantastic. Every single player played their part, showing commitment, courage and real togetherness.

Both respect marshals were present, and facilities were fully available, ensuring a positive and well-managed matchday environment.

The manager and coaching staff were incredibly pleased with the effort, attitude and performance shown by all the girls today — a result and display they can be extremely proud of.

Final Score:
Lichfield City Griffins U12s 4 – 2 Cottage Farm Rangers U12s
