Two trampolines. Same bounce. Wildly different relationship with your garden 🫠

Above ground or in ground? Nobody warns you about this one.

Above ground sets up in a couple of hours, no digging, and you can shift it when your plans change. It also sits about 2 metres high, so yes, you will clock it from the kitchen window.

In ground sits flush with the lawn and basically vanishes. The trade-off? Digging a pit and committing for good.

Save this for the day you finally stop pretending you have a plan.

Shape actually does a job, and here's how it breaks down:

Round pulls everyone back to the middle. Brilliant solo, chaos with siblings.
Oval fits the long, skinny garden and gives a couple of bounce zones so nobody's headbutting anybody.
Rectangular gives an even bounce across the whole surface, so there's more room to move. Gymnasts love it, families do too.

Nobody warns you that most trampoline tumbles happen before the bouncing even starts. 🫠

Three ladder habits that actually keep the summer holidays vaguely under control:

1. Ladder off when bouncing stops. Takes five seconds. Stops the "I only popped inside for two minutes and now there are three of them up there" situation.

2. One on, one waiting on the ground. Rotate. It's the single rule that cuts collision risk the most.

3. Wet steps, no climb. After a shower the mat dries faster than the ladder. Give it a wipe before anyone scrambles up.

Most of us pick a shape because it "looks right in the garden." Turns out the shape decides where you land, how high you go, and whether two kids can share the mat without a full WWE situation 💀

Quick science lesson:
🔵 Round pulls everyone back to the middle. One sweet spot, one bouncer at a time.
🥚 Oval gives you 2-3 zones. Siblings can jump without constant collisions.
▬ Rectangular bounces higher and flatter. It's the gymnast's choice for a reason.

Turns out that's the whole point. Round trampolines are built with one central bounce zone on purpose, so if anyone tumbles or drifts, the spring tension gently tugs them back to the safest spot.

So yes, your child will keep migrating back to the centre. Yes, it's meant to. Yes, you can use this fact to win the next garden debate.
