Highlight from Saturday was the goal that broke the deadlock. Winning the ball high up the pitch Kingy moved the ball wide to Kaiden in space, who's cross in evaded a few players before Keelan steadied himself for a composed finish.

We resumed the League on Saturday with a visit from Polbeth Utd. The boys seemed to be affected by the early start with a few washed out looking faces and yawns in the warm up! It was a warning of what was to come as we went in at the break with the scoreline reading 0-0 after a scrappy uneventful 1st half. Fortunately the half time team talk (or Jaffa cakes!) did the trick and they came out of the traps full of energy and set about their task with renewed vigour. A well taken goal from Keelan broke the deadlock early in the 2nd half and from there it was like watching a different team. Some great performances all round and MOTM was Jacob with his usual energetic performance.

Highlight from Saturdays game was a short corner between Kingy and Gregor with the latter finding himself in space to deliver a pinpoint cross for Kaidens bullet header.

After a couple of delayed attempts we got our West Lothian League season off to a start when we visited Mid Calder on Saturday morning. The boys had obviously learnt some lessons from their pre-season games and it was one of those days when the team seemed to click. Keelan and Kaiden proved to be a thorn in the side of the Mid Calder defence looking sharp on through balls and breaks. Angus W, Jacob and Tom were solid at the back and provided the team with a great attacking platform. And whilst Rory and Aaron won their 50/50s in midfield - Kingy and Gregor raided down the wings. Not forgetting Dexters solid keeping and distribution and Diarmuids 1st half clean sheet 🧤

MOTM was Kaiden for his hattrick of goals and assist but it could have gone to any number of the boys.

Saturday, and our mini tour of Scotland took us to Perth to play Fair City Wanderers in another pre season friendly. The boys didnt seem to be effected by the early start and set about their task with an abundance of energy. Some slick passing, hard running and solid tackling meant the Rose took an early grip on the game. Fair City must have had some team talk at half time because they came out like a team possessed and pushed the boys hard in the 2nd half. There was a great spread of goals and assists amongst the team and everyone went home satisfied with their days work.

Wishing our club stalwart, Jacob, a very happy 11th birthday on Sunday past. Jacob celebrated his birthday doing what he loves best, playing for the Rose. He even topped off the celebrations with a banger of a goal from 25 yards but unfortunately our camera missed it (sorry Jacob). Jacob has been with the club since the age of 5 and we hope to see him in future taking a dizzy penalty with 25 spins beforehand rather than 11. Happy Birthday Jacob.

Sunday brought our CFC team to Musselburgh to the Kenny Ritchie festival of football. The boys played some great stuff over three 30 minute games, winning 2 and drawing 1 game and were delighted to be able to lift the trophy afterwards.
Big thanks to Musselburgh Windsor for hosting what was a brilliant festival.
