Confession from A Chester Boi. We all know this person . Tag that person here please.
As a Ronaldo fan, the last time football truly made me happy was 2020, precisely Bayern's 8–2 win against Barca. Ever since, it has been nothing but pain, pain, and pain.
The first blow was Messi's Copa America victory. How I overcame that pain is still a mystery to me. I couldn't bring myself to believe that Messi had finally won an international trophy, something we had been using to taunt him for years.
Then came the moment that completely killed my interest in football: Messi's World Cup victory.
I still remember vividly how everything unraveled. I sat there, filled with envy for the Argentinian witch. My heart tightened with every pass the Argentinian team completed, and every goal they scored felt like a nightmare. I hated, insulted, and cursed the Dwarf and his team. But in the end, it wasn't enough to keep them from winning the World Cup.
From that moment onward, I never enjoyed football again. All the passion, love, and admiration I once had for football began to wither away. Nothing remained the same again.
Indeed there were times I tried taking solace in Barca's continuing misery in the Champions League, and from the surface, it really seemed thrilling. But it was nothing more than a pretense. I was never truly happy.
And as if all I had gone through was not enough, Messi came to the 2026 worldcup scoring hattricks and freekicks. Goals after goals; topping the goalscoring list and becoming highest goalscorer in the history of the competition.
Messi has tortured, humiliated and punished me. My hatred of him has brought me nothing but premium pain.
And now that the only dream that could have kept me interested in football has been completely shattered, it's about time I cut all ties with this annoying sport that has, over the years, brought me far more pain than joy.
Thank you, football for the wonderful memories.
Thank you Mario Gotze.
Thank you, Chille.
Thank you, 8-2.
Thank you, corner taken quickly.
It hurts me to say this, but goodbye, football.
