The theme for this Saturday’s Meno Yoga class is: Cooling Hot Flushes 🌊.
Many of us will experience hot flushes as we go through menopause - with some data estimating they affect between 70 and 80% of women.
I know I’m one of them - how about you? ☺️.
This class gives us the time and space to share our experiences, and try out movement and breathwork that can help ease the onset of flushes as they arise.
It’s also an invitation to shift our perspectives on hot flushes by drawing on the wisdom of some of the wonderful women teachers whose words inspired this post - thank you, Suza Francina, Ana Forrest and of course for lighting the way 🕯️.

Our theme: Hot flushes
This one’s a biggie … Possibly the most widely acknowledged of all the many menopause symptoms.
I remember laughing at my mum and my aunties when they were experiencing these symptoms back in the day 😬. Maya Angelou’s words about knowing better and doing better spring to mind ... Sorry, Mama! 😘
In my mum’s case I remember watching the red flush rising up her neck and into her face, and of course, back in those days, nobody would really dare to say what it was or what was going on - they’d just laugh it off and ‘get on with it’.
Thank goodness that some things have changed for the better since then! Open and honest conversations about menopause being one of them as well as better access to tools and practices that can help ease symptoms.
I’ll be sharing some of these in this session next week.
It’d be lovely to see you in what I’m now referring to as our cosy menopause cocoon 🥰.
A small and welcoming space with 5 mats only where the only thing you need to do is come exactly as you are 🤗.
No previous yoga experience needed.

Making time for a proper hello to one of my favourite trees this morning! 🌳
Turns out it’s also a fave of the local woodpecker so I’m in good company 🤣.
Hope you get to enjoy the sun on your face today wherever you are ☀️🥰.

February’s theme: Menorage and Irritability.
The menorage is real … and that’s OK ☺️
In our next gathering we’ll be exploring yoga movement and other practices to help soothe those hot emotions that can sometimes bubble up as we transition into / through our wisdom era, aka our menopause and post-menopause years.
Hormonal shifts, world affairs, social pressures and multitasking can all trigger those spontaneous surges of irritability, more often known as menorage these days.
While many of us might have been encouraged to suppress these heated emotions in the past, this class is about learning to recognise them as they arise and channelling them in a constructive way.
If any of this sounds familiar, I’d love to see you next Saturday in this cosy, small-group class (5 spaces only) where the only thing you need to do is come exactly as you are 🤗.
No previous yoga experience needed.
