The ultimate alternative festival by LJMU Drama. Theatrical performances in non-theatrical spaces!
The Flip Side Fest –an alternative, new festival featuring a variety of newly-written and devised works by third year students. The essence of The Flip Side Festival is to allow for an audience to see some exciting and new theatre in non-conventional theatrical spaces. Running from the 17th March right up until the 4th April there are over thirty performances, which consist of not only scripted pl
ays but also new contemporary drama executed in unusual spaces around the Joe H Makin Drama building and the LJMU site. Creative director Maria Knox says “For example, during small space day, an audience can expect to see a one on one performance in a toilet cubicle, immersive theatre in a control room and a solo performance in a lift. The array of short shows will range from some political pieces, to new scripted work, to an experimental instillation on prostitution and a huge scale human game of Nokia’s Snake” The festival is going to be fun and eye opening, theatre is explored and watched in a way that is not the norm. Come along and pick up your Flipside Brochure at the Grand opening on Monday 17th March to find out what’s on, so you can join in and learn something new about theatre and its wonderful forms!
