Nobody tells you that motherhood isn’t just physically demanding. It’s keeping 47 tabs open in your mind at all times, while juggling mental tasks and the chaos of motherhood.
The laundry.
The appointments.
The meals.
The messages you forgot to reply to.
The 58 unread WhatsApps.
The snacks.
The nap maths.
The guilt.
The pressure to enjoy every second.
And somehow, while holding all of that, you’re also meant to be calm, present, grateful, patient, productive and still feel like yourself - and don’t forget to ‘bounce back’!
We talk about postpartum depression like it only happens inside a mother’s mind. But I do wonder how much of it is also about what’s happening around her.
The loneliness.
The lack of support.
The sleep deprivation.
The lack of community.
The invisible work no one sees.
Around 1 in 7 mums experience postpartum depression. And I can’t help but wonder how many more are walking around exhausted, overstimulated and under-supported, calling it “just motherhood” or just “being a mum”.
Maybe you’re not doing a bad job.
Maybe you’re just carrying too much.

Strong Mum Series
Workouts with your little one when you have a stage 5 clinger 🐨
No childcare? No problem. Some days baby comes with, and that’s the only way you’re going to move your body.
Simple, controlled moves you can do at home:
Hold your little one securely!
Keep every movement slow and intentional, and remember to have fun.
Squats x 10-15
Lunges x 10-12 on each side
Hip thrusts x 20-30
Shoulder taps x 4 to standing x 5
Good mornings x 10-15
Rest between sets, and aim for as many reps as possible with a wriggling babes
Repeat 2 to 3 rounds if you’ve got time 🕰️
Even a few minutes counts. Showing up for yourself while clinging to your baby and sanity! 🙊
Save this for the days leaving the house just isn’t happening 💥
Full structured workouts are inside the app via the link in my bio, and the nice thing about the app is you can do it at home with your baby koala.

So this is our first cross-border road trip with a baby and we’re heading to Mozambique, which means we’re also heading into a malaria area for the first time with a little one.
And honestly, I have probably overthought this to death.
It is low season for malaria and, from what we’ve heard, there haven’t been any recent cases in the specific area we’re going to, but still… baby + malaria area = my brain going into full preparation mode.
We’ve spoken to our doctor, the travel clinic, pharmacists, friends who’ve done similar trips, and I’ve also gone down a few travel blog rabbit holes.
This is what we’ve decided to pack and do.
It might be overkill.
But I’d honestly rather take too much and not need half of it than get there and wish we had something.
So far we’ve packed:
✔ malaria medication for us and baby
✔ mosquito nets for the cot and pram
✔ long sleeves and trousers for dusk
✔ plug-ins and repellents
✔ mosquito patches, which we’ve never tried but they had good reviews
✔ a thermometer
✔ a small “just in case” medical kit
The thing I’m most curious about is the malaria medication for baby.
The advice we’ve been given is to dissolve it in condensed milk and give it with a syringe, so if anyone has done this successfully, please tell me your ways because we are very much open ears.
And if you’ve travelled into a malaria area with little ones before, I’d love to know:
What worked?
What was unnecessary?
What do you wish you’d known?
Basically, please send all your parent travel wisdom my way.

It’s Fun To Be One 🌈💜🧁⚡️🪩💃🏽
We celebrated in full rainbow magic because apparently I have no chill when it comes to decorations, and honestly, I loved every second of it. ✨
This year has stretched us, softened us, challenged us and changed us in ways I don’t think we could have imagined. There have been highs, lows, family complexities, big transitions and so many moments of figuring it out as we go. But there has also been joy. An unbelievable amount of joy.
It felt really special to gather the people who have been part of our South African chapter. New friends, old friends, the family close to us, and the beautiful little community of mums and babies we’ve found here. A community I genuinely wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for Harriet from ! 🩷
We toasted surviving our first year of parenthood, but also celebrating how much we’ve grown through it. I’m so proud of Woody and I for stepping into this season, taking it in our stride, and building a life that feels fuller because Ivy is in it.
Motherhood has been the most rewarding, expansive, beautiful thing I’ve ever known. I underestimated how much I would love it!
Happy first birthday, Ivy baby. The first of many celebrations. What a gift it is to be your mum. 🥰
And the beautiful cake was made by 🌈 🍰
Here’s everything that I got for Ivy for her birthday tomorrow 🩵
Super excited to put everything together and celebrate my baby turning one 💫
A lil peek into everything I’ve prepped for Ivy’s first birthday 🥹🎀
it’s a bit of a longer chatty one but I know I love watching these kinds of videos so I had to share… save it for later if you’re planning a party too 💖💫
To her, you are the whole world. 🤍
Before the world tells her who she’s supposed to be, you are the one teaching her what love feels like. You are her first home, her safe place, her favourite sound. The arms she reaches for, the heartbeat she knows by memory, the smile she searches for in every room.
She won’t remember the sleepless nights or the way you held her through every little cry. But she will carry your love with her, in the way she moves through the world, in the way she loves others, in the way she comes back to herself.
You are doing such a beautiful job, mama. And to her, you always will be everything.
