This is Debbie(left). Debbie works as part of our reception team. We have been trialling a new AI receptionist (Emma AI) for our phones over the last month. We had hopes that Emma AI would work smoothly and efficiently and improve our patient experience here. We are always looking to improve our service through new innovation. It’s obvious to us now that this tech wasn’t ready for us.
Your feedback has been that it is not an improvement on our human team. We have heard this in person at reception, through Friends and Family feedback and also Google reviews. Thank you for your feedback - it is important to us, it’s how we improve and we do listen. Apologies for any inconvenience caused to our patients.
Emma AI will be turned off tomorrow morning and our reception team will be back in command. Debbie knew. Debbie knew all along that our humans were better. 😊

It’s a bit hot! 🥵
Many of you enjoy the sunshine 😎but please take a moment to check in on anyone you know who may not be enjoying this weather. A cool drink or an ice cream goes a long way. 🧊🍦

A new exciting chapter for Summerfield.
💻Many of you are familiar with our online triage system for answering queries and booking appointments.
☎️From tomorrow we will gradually introduce a new virtual assistant - Emma - to help with those of you not using our online services. Emma will start taking some of the calls ensuring that your calls will be dealt with promptly and efficiently. There will inevitably be a few teething problems whilst we tweak the tech to ensure it is working well for you. Our very lovely receptionists will still be here if Emma can’t help you.
📈We at Summerfield are convinced that this new addition will improve our service to you.

You may have noticed many more student nurses, doctors and medical students here at Summerfield over the past year or so.
🎉🎉🎉We are delighted to share that Abbey Health Primary Care Network has officially been awarded Learning Organisation Status.🎉🎉🎉
This recognition reflects our commitment (Summerfield Health Centre and The Maltings Surgery) as a PCN to creating a culture of continuous learning, reflection, collaboration, and improvement across all parts of our organisation. It acknowledges the work we are doing to support staff development, encourage shared learning, strengthen leadership, and ultimately improve the care and experience we provide to our patients and communities.
Achieving this status is an important milestone for the whole network and demonstrates the collective effort, openness, and engagement of practices, teams, and colleagues across the PCN.
As a recognised Learning Organisation, this also strengthens our role in supporting and developing the future workforce across primary care. Creating a positive learning environment benefits not only trainees and learners, but also our wider teams and patients.
Care. Innovate. Thrive.
