This morning was the first of six employability workshops supporting Bexley parents who are looking for work. It was great fun helping Bianca facilitate story-based discussions exploring the participants’ journeys, sharing challenges, thinking about solutions and identifying skills and strengths. Looking forward to workshops 5&6 where I will be coaching parents on wellbeing, confidence and designing the life they want.

International Women’s Day Part 1: combing coaching, ESOL and creative methods to deliver a workshop on women and leadership. We explored different meanings of leadership, identified different leadership qualities and skills, and celebrated all the ways that we are leaders in our own lives ❤️

It was peer coaching time at this morning’s Start-up Business Coffee Morning ! Using a simple set of questions based on the GROW model, 11 amazing women entrepreneurs coached each other to set business goals, identify challenges, resources and options, and decide on what they are going to do first/next to make their goals a reality. Using peer coaching meant everyone had the opportunity to contribute their presence, skills and experience in supporting other women, and receive the same in return.

Last month I had the privilege to work with Bianca on expanding her vision for her organisation Parent Power Education and identifying what she needs in order to grow, both as the leader of Parent Power and as a thought leader in the education and curriculum space. It was so inspiring to see her ideas unfurl and the steps forward reveal themselves. Yesterday, I ran a session for for exploring what is . Community is at the heart of what I do, so it was a real pleasure to dig deeper into this theme with the group. We looked at different meanings of the word ‘community’, how it can be a source of support, belonging and confidence, but also a means of singling out, othering or excluding. We looked at the difference between self-identifying communities, and ascribed communities. We reflected on all the different communities we feel a sense of belonging with. And we celebrated our English Club community, where there is a lot of difference, but also a shared goal to make friends and help each other learn English.

It’s a friendly and informal space for women to meet and share their ideas, tips and challenges around starting a business or a social enterprise. Last week was the ⭐️ Build Your Business ⭐️ workshop , where we combined creative approaches, peer support and group coaching (plus coffee and a lot of biscuits!).

It was such a pleasure and an inspiration to support this group of amazing women founders as they created vision boards for their business ideas. We used collage as a way to open up our thinking, and then shared our ideas and observations with each other. The participants finished by setting themselves a personalised action, which was shared out loud with the group.

As one participant said: “this workshop was enjoyable, introspective and motivating. The most useful thing was organising my business idea. It was very inspiring and I loved the fact of taking time to put everything on paper… thank you so much for the opportunity and support!”
