THE HUB
The Hub is a short-term assessment and emergency placement residential home for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties aged 11-17.
We provide short term placements and facilitate multi-agency assessments over a maximum of 12 weeks for children who are new to care or require their needs to be more fully understood allowing their care plan to be updated accordingly.
A permanent move to another Woodford home would then take place, in the event that a suitable placement was not available within Woodford then a transition to an external home would be supported.
If a move to another residential home is deemed not to be required, then, young people placed with us will be able to continue to develop into adult life and progress through our Step-Down Plan to either foster care, semi-independence or return to family.

WOODFORD CHILDREN'S HOME
Woodford Children's Home follows a therapeutic community model of practice. Children who benefit from the group living experience are those who have experienced significant trauma in their early lives that has impacted their developmental milestones.
It is important that the children who are placed with us are able to attend community services such as education or are engaged in CAMHS support and are able to attend our daily community group meetings.
We work especially well with children who are struggling with their identity and have varying degrees of gender identity and/or dysphoria.
The staff receive extra support to help them understand the children’s behaviour and their emotional responses to the children. The team work hard piecing together the whole team’s reaction to our children's identity and their non-verbal communication that can be acted out in their behaviour. Rather than react to the behaviour, we work in staff process groups to understand our children and respond to them empathically and in non-judgemental ways.
The children work on their behaviour with rewards and consequences discussed in our community meetings.
