Soon enough, we had to hop back onto our boat and make our way over to the next stop – the Blue Lagoon.

By the way, when you’re here, be sure to pop round to the theatre here. It’s one of the oldest surviving theatres in Europe (dates back to 1612).

Nestled just off the historic Route 66, Amarillo is a perfect stopping point to explore and rest up when visiting the best places in Texas.

Once here, take some time to explore the beautiful Amarillo Botanical Gardens and the Amarillo Museum of Art. Their both lovely spots to visit, especially when on a day trip to the city.

Plus, if you’re driving, stop off at Cadillac Ranch that’s along Route 66 itself. An art installation of Cadillac cars (half -sank into the ground), it’s got a new-age Stonehenge vibe that’s actually pretty cool to see.

Chris Allcock, chairman of the Fiesta, said it was a "big joy" to have the balloons in north Bristol.

"There were some clear winners and favourite locations for balloons to fly from," he said.

"Last year we could do very, very little but we've got a plan for this year and we're going to have balloons all over Bristol for the Fiesta Fortnight."

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is the largest annual hot air balloon event in Europe and normally attracts more than 500,000 visitors to Ashton Court on the edge of the city each year.

This year's alternative Fiesta Fortnight runs until Sunday 15 August, with more secret launches planned.
