There are so many reasons why it's beneficial to improve your flexibility!

1) It may improve your performance in physical activities, whether that is day-to-day movement or other fitness activities.
2) Decrease your risk of injuries. If muscles are stiff, then their opposing muscles have to work harder to compensate. This can lead to the muscles getting tired and, over time, injury.
3) Help your joints move through their full range of motion. By improving your flexibility, you reduce tension in muscles and allow joints and muscles to extend their full range.
4) Increase muscle blood flow. This also helps speed up recovery as well!

This is a brief overview of why it's good to work on your flexibility. In Pilates, we work on strengthening the muscles but also stretching the muscles. It's a win, win situation! Do you have a favourite stretch? Or do you feel inflexible in a certain area and want to discover a way to stretch it out? Let me know! ✨️πŸ’₯✨️

Happy Monday! This is probably one of my favourite quotes from Joseph Pilates. People often begin Pilates to improve their physical fitness, but soon realise the full package. Yes, you get fitter and will feel the benefits in your body, however it also improves the mind and spirit as well. Pilates takes a lot of concentration! To be able to translate the teachers cues into your own body, whilst also being aware of your body's capabilities (although a teacher can help you with that as well) and perform the exercises with precision and control takes a lot of brain power! The unison of the mind and body will improve your general, emotional, and mental wellbeing (spirit). If you haven't started Pilates yet, what have you got to lose? πŸ˜‰βœ¨οΈπŸ’ͺ

There's the famous quote by Joseph Pilates that I posted a while ago, "You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions". In an idea world, it's recommended to do 2-3 sessions per week. It would be great if each session were an hour long, but if you're working correctly and adopting the best exercises for you, then 20-minute sessions can be enough.

How often do you do Pilates? Want to add more sessions to your current practice or want to start Pilates? Check out my February schedule (it's pinned on my grid) and let me know if you would like to join up! βœ¨οΈπŸ€ΈπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ
