London's original climbing wall deep in the East End

We’re going to Fontainebleau! One of the most beloved outdoor bouldering locations in the world, the forest of Fontainebleau is a magical place, with thousands of boulders scattered all over the place.
With our next secret garden social, we’re hoping to bring its great climbing style to Mile End, so you can feel ready for your next trip to Font. We hope to see you there!

We had such a good time in Wales/at the Secret Garden social last week, and we’re so excited for many more to come this summer!

Can you guess our next destination in the comments?

Early birds get the worm! And by worm, we mean £5 entry to the wall if you come to our centre before 9:30am on a weekday (no bank holidays).

Time for some educational content!

Earlier this week, Will () & Miche () were joined by guest-setter Callum (.sketch) to reset the Cave, Rock-On-Slab and Karma area. With such a crack-team, the set was a breeze, so we thought we’d make things a little bit more challenging for them. Claudia’s Life in the UK test (a mandatory test about ‘important British facts’ you have to pass to gain British Citizenship) seemed like it would fit the bill... hence this video was born.

Want to know who led the English Republic in the 17th century or what the Giant’s Causeway is made of? Want to know which routesetter knows the most Britain-facts? Or maybe you just want to know why the Italian National Anthem is playing in the background. Find out all this and more by giving it a watch...

The Secret Garden social is coming back! Every month this summer, we’re going to bring you along on a trip to a different climbing destination, to get you ready for those outdoors sends.
When’s the last time you climbed at six world class climbing destinations in one summer? We bet the answer is never. Well this year, you can do just that. Except not that at all. It’s all going to be in the Secret Garden. No international travel required. Better for the environment, and your wallet. Win-win! We’ll see you there.

Each social, there’s going to be three replicas set just for the night, and boulders inspired by the climbing style of each place up in the garden throughout the month.

On the 28/04, come down for the Welsh set, to kick off our Around the World tour.

Last week, round 3 of our Bloc by Bloc comp ended, and the fourth and final round started with the opening of the new Secret Garden set. 50 more great climbs for you to project as part of our winter league, which will end on the 28th January!

Swipe to see the results of this round, and the overall results thus far.

Since October, we have raised over £300 for charities such as Tower Hamlet’s Mind! Thank you to all who have been donating, and don’t worry, it’s not too late to sign up and donate at reception!

Bloc by Bloc will culminate in a big day-comp and finals event on the 28th February, for which early-bird tickets are already available!

This time last year, we made the decision to keep our 2024 climbing prices into 2025. Despite ever-rising costs, we wanted to stay accessible to our community for as long as possible, because we know how important it is to climb. Our promise was to maintain these prices until at least the Summer, but in the end, we ended up managing to maintain them all year - making us proud to be one of the most affordable climbing walls in London - never sacrificing quality in being so.

Now, as we are heading into 2026, we are reviewing all of this once again. All of the associated costs of running the wall - rent, bills, the cost of equipment, building materials and wages - have once again increased. In addition this year, we have continued to invest heavily in our facilities; from new ventilation systems, brand new holds, and equipment, to our new events and socials program - we are committed to continually improving our offering. So we know that our community would understand if we, like many other walls in the city, raised our prices on the basis that it had simply become necessary to do so...

But, here’s the thing - there is one big cost we’ve never had to worry about; the profit of investors. Unlike most other walls, we’re an independent wall run by a charity, and all of the money we make gets reinvested into the centre and the charitable aims of Development Through Challenge. This allows us to do things a little bit differently... and so:

We are *not* raising our climbing prices for 2026.

Our mission remains simple: to make climbing accessible - and we don’t think our community should have to bear the rising costs.

Don’t get us wrong - it won’t be easy! And so, for anyone who wishes to do so, you will be able to increase the cost of your own climbing on a voluntary basis and to whatever degree you choose. Speak to our reception team to find out more! For everyone else, support us by becoming a regular - this place relies on all you wonderful people that come time and time again to share in our love of climbing here at Mile End.

There’s not much more to it than that! See you at the wall.

Our Christmas market is a wrap and we couldn’t be happier with how it went.

A massive thank you to our lovely vendors who put so much love into what they do. We hope you found that last special gift for your loved ones, or a little treat for yourself.

And thank you to everyone who stopped by and showed their support.

See you next year!
