A huge Happy 18th Birthday to our amazing coach, Sky! 🎉

It’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown. Watching Sky grow from a student into the incredible young man and role model he is today has been a privilege.

We are so proud of everything he has achieved so far, and we’re excited to see what this next chapter brings, with his apprenticeship, becoming a certified British Taekwondo Instructor, and many more successes to come.

Thank you for everything you do for Putney Taekwondo. We can’t wait to continue this journey with you.

A massive congratulations to Mark, Jason, Misha, Noah, Stella, and Catherine for their brilliant performances at the Best Leg Poomsae Championship. I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Whether it was your very first competition or one of many, you all stepped onto the mat with courage, did your very best, and represented Putney Taekwondo so well.

A huge thank you to Jason’s Uncle Alex for once again creating an amazing video and capturing so many special moments from the day.

And, of course, a special thank you to Best Leg Taekwondo Academy for organising another fantastic championship. It’s always one of the highlights of the year.

Now it’s time for a well-deserved summer break soon, just a few more weeks of training. Thank you to all our students and families for another wonderful term. We can’t wait to see everyone back in September, ready for the Aquila Championships and The Nationals💙🥋

Massive congratulations to everyone who graded this weekend! We had our Kup grading at the club on Saturday, followed by the black belt grading on Sunday. It was a weekend full of hard work, determination and success.

I’m so proud of every single one of you. Ending the term with a new belt is a wonderful achievement, and a well-deserved reward for all the effort you’ve put in🥋👊😃

A huge congratulations to Erin and Zach on passing their Black Belt Grading today! 🥋🖤

We are incredibly proud of you both. It has been amazing to be part of your black belt journey, and seeing all your hard work rewarded today is something very special.

Today’s grading was long, demanding and made even tougher by the summer heat. Throughout the day they were tested on random poomsae from Taeguk 1–8, sparring, self-defence against grabs, sleeves and punches, and the full range of basic techniques they have learned since their very first white belt class. They performed with excellent technique, determination and composure from start to finish.

What makes this achievement even more meaningful is not just today’s performance, but the years of perseverance behind it. Like every martial artist, there have been days when motivation wasn’t at its highest, but they never gave up. They kept coming to training week after week, challenged themselves at championships, supported their teammates, and continued to improve. That consistency is what a black belt represents.

As a club, we couldn’t be prouder of the martial artists and young people you have become. Congratulations, Erin and Zach, your black belts are truly well deserved. 👏🖤

What a fantastic day at the annual interclub sparring event in Bromley🥋

Our students had an amazing experience with lots of good fights, great technical moments, valuable learning, and most importantly, lots of fun and new friendships across clubs. We saw courage, sportsmanship, teamwork and determination from everyone who stepped onto the mats, whether they won or lost their matches. Every fight was a chance to learn and grow 💪

At Putney Taekwondo, we believe martial arts is about much more than just fighting. Alongside sparring, we also focus strongly on traditional Taekwondo forms (Poomsae), self-defence, discipline, confidence and respect, helping students develop into well-rounded martial artists both physically and mentally.

A huge thank you to Empsi Taekwondo and Nomad Taekwondo for organising another brilliant event for the Taekwondo community. We already can’t wait for the next one! 🙌

So proud of our girls Erin and Catherine attending the South England Regional Poomsae training this weekend 💙

Spending hours training Poomsae on a Sunday says so much about their dedication, discipline and passion for Taekwondo. They continue to impress us not only with their talent, but also with their attitude and work ethic.

A special congratulations to Erin for recently being recognised on the pathway towards future GB National Squad opportunities, a huge achievement and something to be incredibly proud of. While passport eligibility means the timing isn’t quite right yet, this is still fantastic recognition of her potential and the hard work she has put in 👏

Keep working hard girls, your Putney Taekwondo family is very proud of you both!

Amazing weekend at the London Poomsae Championship 🥋

So proud of our team for bringing home 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals, as well as the bronze team trophy — out of 21 clubs👏

But more importantly, this championship is about growth, confidence, stepping out of comfort zones, and learning how to compete. Especially for beginners, this event is such a valuable and inspiring experience.

Huge thank you to Nomad Taekwondo and Empsi Taekwondo for organising such a fantastic event every year, and to Nomad Taekwondo and Win Taekwondo Academy for the great pair and team collaborations 🤝

Happy Birthday to Putney Taekwondo 🥳🥋

From just a few members to the strong, passionate community we are today, what a journey it’s been since 2022.

So proud of everything we’ve achieved together:
Gradings, championships, medals, and most importantly the courage to step out of our comfort zones and grow 💪

This club is not just about Taekwondo, it’s about perseverance, support, and becoming the best version of ourselves.

Finally, it’s time to open our brand new club at Putney Leisure Centre. Can’t wait to meet everyone who have signed up for a free trial the last couple of weeks. Thank you all for getting in touch, together we will build this club, excel and make new friends.

Proud moments across the club today 👏

Well done to all students who took part in today’s extra grading, small group, but strong performances, great techniques, and clear progress. Fantastic to see the hard work paying off!

And a big shoutout to Misha and Erin who attended the South England Regional Poomsae training this morning, 4.5 hours of focused, high-level training. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Congratulations to all our students who graded yesterday! 🥋

Belt gradings are a special moment in every Taekwondo journey. They represent weeks and months of training, commitment, and dedication, and it’s always fantastic to see our students step onto the mat and show how much they have grown.

As the belts get higher, the gradings get tougher. For some of our students who are now getting closer to black belt, the level is becoming quite advanced and the expectations are higher than ever. But one of the core tenets of Taekwondo is Perseverance, the determination to keep going even when things get difficult. Our students continue to train, improve, and never give up, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. 👊

A special mention also goes to the incredible energy and spirit in the room yesterday, and to the moment captured in one of the photos where it genuinely looks like Sky is about half a meter above the mat… which he actually is 😅. Proof that Taekwondo training may not teach you to fly… but it can get you pretty close😅

Well done everyone, your hard work truly pays off. Thank you Sky, for assisting in the grading🫶
