I help your professionals figure out what they really want to do and how to get there │ Career Clarity & Transition Coach

15/08/2022

It’s okay to leave something good in pursuit of something better. In pursuit of something different, a new challenge or simply to explore, because you cannot stop wondering „What if…“

Ignore the voice that says: „Who am I to ask for more?“

Be grateful for where you are at and what you have, then start figuring out your next step.

You aren’t helping anyone else by keeping yourself small, miserable or even „just fine“.

That is just an excuse to not face the scary question of „What do I actually want to do with my life?“ and avoids having to take action, which is scary when the outcome is still uncertain and success is not guaranteed.

But it’s not going to help you in the long run. You’ll keep wondering and you’ll keeping thinking about it.

And on January 1st 2023, you’ll wish you’d started today.

So what are you going to do this week that you know you have to do for yourself but you’ve been putting it off?

Drop a note in the comments below or DM me if you want accountability to get the scary task done this week! Tell us what you are going to get done this week and I’ll check in with you on Friday. ❤️

Let’s talk about taking a risk and taking the plunge into something unknown or new.

Here is what helped me move from London flat to full-time digital nomad without ever having tried that type of lifestyle and way of working before.

🌟Giving myself permission to change my mind later on. Changing your mind is not a failure.

🌟Getting rid of the idea that I need to impress anyone, that people are watching or that I will disappoint the people closest to me by doing something different.

🌟Knowing that it’s just one decision. Success will be decided by the million steps I take after I take the plunge & any decision can be reversed. (Think about it: Even buying a house can be reversed. You have the option to sell it again on the day you move in - if you want to.)

🌟Knowing that my “old” life is always available to me. I can come back anytime. Most doors don’t ever truly close.

🌟Trusting I’ll always be okay.

🌟Embracing the messy middle. It’s okay to not have everything figured out & do things imperfectly.

🌟Knowing my why.

What are the things & worries holding you back from exploring something new or taking the plunge?

Hi everyone! 👋 There are a lot of new faces here so I thought I’d quickly re-introduce myself.

My name is Viola, hi! 😃 I have a full-time remote job and am also building my own coaching business to help anxious high-achievers be, do and feel their best at work & at home in my spare time, all while travelling as a permanent digital nomad (for those who don’t know, this means I have subbed in my flat for a storage unit and two suitcases and now work from anywhere I want).

Things I love:

🌟Meeting new people
🌟Personal Growth
🌟Crisps and anything salty
🌟Learning new things
🌟Coffee!
🌟Scuba diving

I’d love to find out a little more about you too, let me know what you do for a living and something interesting you like to do in your spare time or are working on right now! Let’s connect! 👇

Madeira - Home for the next 4 weeks! ☀️

10/04/2022

This past Friday, I celebrated one of my best friend’s graduation and to commemorate the joyous occasion we went to a fancy dinner. We had wine, beef wellington and this divine desert (rice pudding with rhubarb compote and honeycomb).

Over this desert, she told me about something she had learned recently:

Always ask: What is my second thought?

Let me explain.

We were talking about sussing out and then unlearning societal beliefs, unhealthy behaviors and old patterns to build a life you truly love.

And she was explaining to me that the first thought you have is usually an automated and conditioned one, one that is not truly your opinion but something that you’ve been taught to think and believe by others.

Then, to figure out what you really think or feel, ask again: What do I think?

I tried it out immediately after and I must say, it is one of the most effective and easiest tools I’ve ever come across to help you see and understand outdated mental models that might be guiding your thinking without you even knowing.

It’s a brilliant little trick to develop more self-awareness.

So I wholeheartedly invite you, next time you find yourself jumping to conclusions or judgement, ask yourself: What is my second thought?

I think you’ll be surprised.

I changed my lifestyle.

I gave up my flat, put my stuff into storage, and now I work from anywhere.

At times, it feels too good to be true. - Do I deserve this?

Is this even allowed? Who am I to make such demands from life?

As a self-declared anxious high achiever, so many fears come up daily.

Taking a chance, making a change is hard for everyone. And as anxious high achievers we face very unique challenges:

We worry that we are wasting our time if things are not going to work out just right.

We fear that we are not good enough to achieve what we want or that we don’t deserve it.

We are afraid of what others will think, we are scared of being rejected or told that we are doing something wrong, that we don’t belong.

These fears are so valid.

I am learning to accept that they’ll always be there.

But I am also learning that I can grow a muscle that I didn’t know I had or even existed to make handling these fears easier and quicker over time.

The worry, the playing small, the people-pleasing: It doesn’t have to be “just the way I am” and “there is nothing I can do about it”. You absolutely can.

That’s what I am learning, what I practice daily these days and what I want to teach in my coaching.

Like this post if you can relate to any of these fears to let others know that they are not alone in what they are feeling either.

Good morning, everyone! 👋

📲 This is a reminder for anyone out there who needs to hear this today: Try new things and embrace uncertainty to do something you really want to do despite not knowing how things might turn out.

🌟 If there is something you've been putting off all week, the day isn't over yet! Go send that e-mail, reach out to that person, sign up for the class or have that conversation.

Remember, you went to school before you could read, signed up for uni before you had your grades and started training for a marathon before you could run it. In order to achieve and get to places where we want to go, we have to start before we are ready.

Embrace uncertainty and great things will happen for you! 🏆
