Milos and Gaynor are a long distance a sled dog racing team that live and train in Kiruna, northern S He won both of these races with Rookie status, ie.
Milos Gonda has been working with sled dogs since he was 15. He was born in Slovakia but decided to move to Norway in 2003 to pursue a career in sled dog tourism. Just about says it all. :p
Gaynor Leeper Gondova will be running her third race ever in Lapland Quest 2020. Gaynor had a succesful career in London, but didn't feel to be home in her suit in the office and wanted something more in her life... About 9 years ago she met with Milos Gonda, got in love with the musher, with sled dogs and with Swedish Lapland, winter, all of it together. Now they are running together a tourism kennel in Kiruna called Lapland Sleddog adventures where they builded up their own house and guest house with the kennels couple of years ago. Gaynor has travelled a lot, seen Kilimanjaro and hiked in Himalaja, she has been rafting in Zambezi and walked along the Skeleton coast in Namibia, so one Lapland Quest will be a piece of cake for this girl! She is training the team for Finnmarkslöpet600, as we have learned that quite many others participating in Lapland Quest will do. For the past couple of years Gaynor and Milos have been breeding dogs especially for long distance races, and it will be really nice to see the team at the Lapland Quest2020! Gaynor wishes to bring a team into the finish line which wants to keep on going
Racing season has kicked off with a bang! Congratulations to everyone who's just finished Gausdal Maraton 2020, especially Elisabeth Edland for her first place in 8-dog 200km and Jimmy Pettersson in the Open 300km.
Now we turn our attention to La Grande Odyssee in France and we're cheering on Cari Rörström from Sweden who also lives in Kiruna and is championing the girls at LGO! Go Cari!!! The 10-day stage race starts today.
As for us, a little easy race training today as we prepare for Lapland Quest on Saturday (250km). We're taking 10 dogs to the race in Finland as training for Finnmarkslopet in March. Our aim is to prove that the dogs are on track with their training program and that Gaynor can make all the right decisions on the trail. Fingers crossed!! www.laplandquest.com
