As a psychiatrist, I’ve been deeply concerned by some of the comments I’ve seen online about postpartum mental health issues.
One thing has become clear: there is still so much misunderstanding around postpartum mental illness and a lot of people are ignorant.
Postpartum psychosis is a psychiatric emergency. And sometimes, the warning signs can be subtle, easy to dismiss or mistaken for “normal” new-parent struggles.
So, in today’s video, I share 7 subtle signs to look out for. Whenever you see any of these signs, GET HELP IMMEDIATELY.
If you’d like to understand more about women’s mental health, I’ve put together a series on my YouTube channel covering this topic.

I used to think I was lucky because the abuse wasn’t physical.
I told myself, “At least he’s not hitting me.”
So I stayed.
I endured the emotional abuse because I thought it couldn’t be as bad as physical abuse.
Until I realised something:
You don’t need bruises to be broken.
Little by little, my confidence disappeared.
I stopped recognising myself.
And the damage went deeper than I ever imagined.
That’s when I knew I had to leave.
Walking away wasn’t easy, but I’m forever grateful to God for giving me the courage to choose myself.
So if you’re reading this and quietly enduring something that is destroying you…
Please don’t wait until you have visible wounds before you take your pain seriously.
Don’t settle for the bare minimum just because you’re afraid of starting over.
You deserve peace.
You deserve respect.
You deserve a love that doesn’t make you lose yourself.
Your worth is not up for negotiation.
And remember:
Choosing yourself is never a mistake. ❤️
What a life!
What a legacy!
What a truly beautiful soul!
Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton (1946–2026). 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Beyond her extraordinary music and undeniable talent, Dolly Parton leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, resilience and giving back.
She also spoke openly about her own struggles with her mental health, helping to remind people that even those who appear strong and successful can experience difficult seasons behind the scenes.
Her openness, authenticity and willingness to share her experiences helped challenge the stigma around mental health and made her story even more relatable to so many.
Dolly showed the world that success isn’t only about what you achieve, but also about the lives you touch, the barriers you help break and the difference you make along the way.
A remarkable life.
A remarkable legacy.
A remarkable woman.
Rest peacefully, Dolly. 💐🕊️

STOP GIVING OTHER PEOPLE SO MUCH POWER OVER YOUR PEACE.🚨🚨🚨
Not everything deserves a reaction.
That comment they made.
The thing they didor didn’t do.
The opinion they have about you.
That message they didn’t reply to.
You don’t have to respond to everything.
Sometimes, the reason you feel so stressed, drained, and mentally exhausted isn’t because of what happened… it’s because you’re overthinking and overanalysing it.
The goal isn’t to stop feeling emotions.
It’s to learn how to RESPOND instead of REACT. 🧠
In today’s video, I share 5 simple strategies to help you manage difficult emotions, protect your energy, and stop letting other people’s words and actions control your peace of mind.
Comment “EMOTIONS” and I’ll send you the link to watch how to manage difficult emotions on my YouTube channel.

ADHD or autism—or could it be both? 🧠🧠🧠
At first glance, they can sometimes look similar. But ADHD and autism are different neurodevelopmental conditions, with different characteristics and support needs.
In today’s video, I share 3 key differences between the two conditions.
And yes, someone can be both ADHD and autistic.
Understanding the differences can help us move beyond labels, avoid assumptions and better support each person as an individual.

Ever feel mentally drained, emotionally exhausted, and like you have nothing left to give? 😩🤷🏽♀️
Sometimes, it’s because you’ve been giving from an empty emotional bank.
Your energy is your currency.
Spend it wisely.🔥🔥🔥
You don’t have to carry everyone.
You don’t have to fix every problem.
You don’t have to be available to everyone.
Not every problem is yours to solve.
Protect your peace. Set boundaries.
Choose where your energy goes.
I have explained how to recognise and overcome energy drainers in the latest episode of the Becoming Whole Podcast.

Why does rejection feel SO intense when you have ADHD?” 🧠🧠🧠
If you have ADHD, you may sometimes find yourself reacting very strongly to criticism, rejection, or feeling misunderstood.
And NO! It doesn’t mean you’re “too emotional” or being dramatic.
For some people with ADHD, rejection can trigger intense emotional responses that can feel overwhelming in the moment.
When these emotions aren’t understood or managed effectively, they can affect relationships, communication, and overall mental well-being.
As a psychiatrist and ADHD specialist, one of the things I help my clients with is understanding their emotions, navigating difficult moments, and learning healthier ways to manage intense emotional responses.
In today’s video, I share 5 practical ways to manage difficult emotions associated with ADHD.
Which one would you try first?👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
I only have a few slots left this month, specifically for ADHD coaching.

Shame is an intense negative emotion that can leave people feeling isolated, rejected, unworthy, and afraid to ask for help.
Sometimes, when we shame people, we don’t help them, we lose them.
As an African psychiatrist, this breaks my heart because this feels like an avoidable tragedy.
The media scrutiny and cyberbullying should never have happened. Perhaps, just perhaps, he would still be with us today.
RIP, Jason Arday. 🕊️🕊️🕊️
His story is a painful reminder that our words and actions can have profound consequences for someone’s mental health.
Let’s choose compassion over condemnation.
Let’s create spaces where people feel safe to speak, seek support, and ask for help without fear of judgment.
If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, please don’t suffer in silence.
Reach out. Ask for help.🙏🏾
