👀 What’s hiding under that cover at Le Prarion? 🚡

All the cabins on the Prarion gondola lift are set to be replaced for the 2026–2027 winter season.

An initial panoramic cabin is currently being installed on the line to undergo the necessary tests prior to the full rollout.

You’ll have to wait a little longer to see what these new cabins look like... stay tuned for this winter. 👀

More spacious and modern, they will be accompanied by a complete overhaul of the lift stations, featuring redesigned boarding and disembarking areas for greater comfort and smoother passenger flow.

This renovation represents an investment of €2.16 million (excl. tax) and is part of a broader program worth over €15 million dedicated to modernizing the Les Houches – Saint-Gervais ski area by 2030.

Ski Performance for Mountaineers – Chamonix

Want to feel more comfortable, efficient and confident skiing off-piste?

Our Ski Performance for Mountaineers course is designed for skiers who want to improve their technique and develop practical tactics for a wide range of snow conditions — from powder and bumps to crust, chopped-up snow and firm or icy terrain.

We’ll work on the piste to develop the techniques, then quickly put them into practice off-piste. You’ll also work on skiing steeper terrain, trees and tighter spaces, with plenty of opportunity to practise between sessions.

The course runs over 4 half-day sessions, with a rest day in the middle, allowing time to practise and consolidate what you’ve learned.

4–8 January: 1 place remaining

25–29 January: 2 places remaining

15–19 March: 6 places remaining

You’ll need a transceiver, shovel and probe, which can be hired locally in Chamonix.

Whether you’re a mountaineer, guide, ski tourer or simply someone who wants to improve their off-piste skiing, this is a chance to spend focused time developing your skiing with a small group and plenty of individual coaching.

✨ Back in the 1960s, La Flégère offered an experience that is unimaginable today: summer skiing on the Index snowfield. It was a bygone era, yet our site—celebrating its 70th anniversary this year—holds onto precious memories of it. 🎿❄️
The landscape has changed since then. Summer skiing is a thing of the past, and the original gondola has been replaced by a modern chairlift. Today, La Flégère serves as a gateway to vast natural spaces in the heart of the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve, offering a different way to experience the mountains. 🌿⛰️
Every era has its own story, emotions, and memories…

✨ Dans les années 60, la Flégère offrait une expérience aujourd'hui inimaginable : du ski d'été sur le névé de l'Index. Une époque révolue, mais dont notre site, qui célèbre ses 70 ans cette année, garde de précieux souvenirs. 🎿❄️
Aujourd'hui, le paysage a changé. Le ski d'été a disparu, tout comme la télécabine d'origine, remplacée par un télésiège moderne. Désormais, la Flégère est une porte d'entrée vers de vastes espaces naturels, au cœur de la Réserve naturelle des Aiguilles Rouges, où la montagne se découvre autrement. 🌿⛰️

Chris Walker fell in love with skiing after discovering the freedom and challenge of the mountains on snow. In his own words, it had become his "new favourite thing."

Following Chris's tragic death in an avalanche in Glen Coe in 2010, Off Piste Performance created the Chris Walker Grant to honour his memory and help others with the same passion for the mountains develop their skiing.

The grant provides a free place on the Ski Performance for Mountaineers course for someone who:

• Is a keen mountaineer or climber with some ski experience.
• Wants to improve their off-piste skiing and ski touring skills.
• Hasn't previously had formal ski instruction on a course like this.

If you've been looking for the opportunity to take your skiing to the next level, or know someone who would benefit, now is the time to apply.
