🎥 A little trip down memory lane…
Some of our former Northbrook Judoka in action, demonstrating the skill, determination, and fighting spirit that helped build the club’s reputation over the years.
There was a time when hearing “Northbrook” on the draw sheet made people sit up and take notice. Not through arrogance, but through consistent hard work, strong coaching, and producing competitors who could perform when it mattered.
Many of these players have long since moved on, but their achievements remain part of the club’s history and continue to inspire the next generation of Northbrook Knights. 💪🥋

This is the new official page for Northbrook Judo Club (replacing the old Northbrook Profile). This page is a message board for the club.
A huge well done to one of our young Northbrook Judo Club members, who earned a fantastic bronze medal at a recent competition in Essex 🥉
More importantly, they showed massive progress in their ability, confidence, and attitude on the mat. Medals are great, but seeing development like this is what really matters.
Every competition is a learning opportunity, and this was a brilliant step forward.
Well done — keep working hard, keep improving, and keep making us proud.
A flying visit from Sensei Dave Hammond— a familiar face from Northbrook’s early days, back when we were part of the .
Great to have him back on the mat, sharing a few teachings, a few stories, and naturally finishing with a cheeky beer afterwards.
Also joining us was the cheeky scoundrel .fitzgerald.125 … because apparently one character wasn’t enough.
Sensei Aaron showing his unique turnover into Osae Komi.
Perfect after a failed throw, chop-down, or fast transition into ne-waza. Control first, pin second, escape denied. Lovely stuff.

Proud of all our players yesterday at the London Youth Games at UEL representing Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham 👏
Medals for:
Lewisham – Zach 🥈 Alex 🥈 Makayla 🥉
Bromley – Eva 🥈 Henry 🥈 Jack 🥉
Greenwich – Xavier 🥉
Stand-out moment: Teilo winning his second match with some quality ashi-waza. Unlucky not to medal.
Special mention to Zach and Henry for excellent silver medals, particularly stepping up beyond club level or into senior competition.
Big thanks to Sensei Aaron for coaching support, and also to the Bromley and Greenwich coaches who supported our players throughout the day. Thank you as well to all the parents for backing their children and the club.
More to come once the borough placings are uploaded.
Massive thank you to Relentless Judo for putting on a great event today.
Brilliant opportunity for our Northbrook Knights to learn, gain more experience, and keep developing on the mat. Days like this are valuable — not just for medals, but for growth, confidence, and learning what needs sharpening next. 🥋
Well done to everyone involved.
Correct dojo etiquette matters.
Don’t step off the mat barefoot and don’t leave without bowing.
Bow first, put your footwear on, then leave the mat properly.
It shows respect for the dojo, your coach, your training partners, and helps keep the mat clean too.
Sensei James runs through a traditional fighting turnover — flowing from a failed throw straight into a turnover, then onto a choke or arm bar.
That’s proper judo thinking: if the throw doesn’t land, the job’s not over. Keep working, keep transitioning, keep the pressure on. 🥋

Latest episode of Sensei Kams Teaches 🥋
This one features 3 real-time applications of resistance band training that can be practised at home, with direct transfer onto the mat.
In this variation, the movement pattern links into Ko Uchi Gari (Minor Inner Reap) — helping develop movement, timing, direction and useful repetition away from the dojo.
Sensei Kams runs Saturday morning sessions at our Bromley venue from 10–11am.
