As we venture into our 10th year at CHAINGANG Race Team, we celebrate what it means to set seemingly impossible goals and then achieve them.

This thinking has been at the heart of our little team, and as we have seen, our riders conquer some of the toughest multi-day races on the mountain biking calendar.

As our pairing of takes on the iconic and brutal , we wanted them to remember these poignant words from the great man himself, Nelson ‘Madiba’ Mandela.

Smash it out of the park, lads! And thanks to the crew we love you all.

1 day to go for and for the start of the Cape Epic, and it would not be right without the crew supporting them, and .matthewson, .

and .short racing today at old gits race. Stu on the podium in 3rd and Rusty finishing 6th, winter training going well, as the Epic Boys and push them through the winter miles. Shout out to the crew for keeping us motivated.

They’ve done it!! Stellenbosch to Val de Vie Estate - 62km may have looked comparatively short by standards but there was still an unrelenting 2000m of climbing to tackle before and could put the demons of 2019 and disappointment of 2020 to bed! Every Epic team has a million stories, the prep, the pain, the dedication, the suffering and the friendship, safe to say these two lads have done it all, and now finally can rest easy, Epic is done and delivered 👌 Awesome lads, huge well done!!

Cape Epic] just wouldn’t be the Cape Epic] without some drama! 10km in our boys traverse a innocuous water crossing and disaster! Cut side wall! But disaster can turn to rage and rage leads to….. and going full gas for 100km to gain back over 90 placings before the finish!!

You don’t get through without getting the basics right, having a shed load of good luck and a rock solid partner, fact. These two legends are chipping away at a goal that has been bugging and for almost 3 years now…FINISH AS A TEAM 😜 Nearly there boys nearly there!

After 2 years of delay, we, are, back! 2022 kicked off with a monster day covering 92km over 2800m of elevation out and back from our boys suffered like the best of them! and saw some brain melting temperatures to battle home in an incredible 20th in Masters! Well done lads!!

Our own racing squirrel .short has been deep in the now for all five rounds and is sitting precariously in 6th in the league standings as Magnus Wills nips at his heels! Sunday’s course was a savage one for our mud loving Rus, Somerhill was dry, fast and very power orientated, so at 55kg and a bag of sugar Rus was up against it. Accepting risk was the only option so Rus hit the main descent full gas into the very sketchy hard right turn to hold his ground in the top 20 finishing a respectable 17th but with no gains made it will be all his fault when the heavens open as he prays for rain at Hog Hill!
