Upper Body Sessions?

Yeah, I do them?

Looks a little bit different from the pec dec 4x12… 😅🤣

If you care about your sport… whatsoever

I’d recommend coming and having a chat, and we can gear your training to look a little bit more beneficial, I love helping guys and girls start to shape their training to become better

(Il still put hammer curls in there 😏)

Share with someone you think it might be useful

Save it and remember

Like it dammit 🤣

The 85% Rule…

Now this isn’t an excuse to back off totally

But a few things I’ve picked up from training clients, athletes & everything in between

85% often looks better than 100%

“But Tom, wtf 😳 are you on about”

“EVERY REP COUNTS BRO”

“LEAVE IT ALL OUT THERE”

Sure, absolutely 💯 effort can be required

But, it seems to be at 100% we could tighten up, become overwhelmed, go over the tilter as we are right on the edge of what we can do

Most of the time, 85% is damn good

For training, this is the point that you should be moving pretty damn well, it’s high effort enough for it to be strenuous & pretty good performance but it’s backed off enough for your technique to take control and get you body working for you, instead of forcing it

Gold swings sometimes look effortless, 100m run times the same, these guys and girls work just around 85% and the body Kinects 😏

Same can be said for work, nutrition and everything in between

85% keeps your head above water and is damn good

There’s a time to push to near 100% but be aware, the risk of injury, meltdown and falling off will dramatically increase

When that bodybuilding bro or the class instructor yells at you “give 110%” guys throughout

Just remember, take a breathe and nail what your doing, if you miss 1 rep, f**k it, the rest of them were awesome

😎

Little highlights 💪

So, some of the client wins that they don’t shout about too often over the last few months

From a few of my services

Combine Coaching
121 Coaching
121 Mentoring

They all annoyingly get to speak to me week in week out aswell 😂😝

Chris added 14+% on his strength lifts over a 10/12 week period

Clark is a newly qualified coach, but we have set his training up to help educate in athletic training, applying a reading list etc and managed to get in double digit clients in 10 weeks…

Jac apart from crying about wales… is nearing game ready football after chronic knee issues

Luke, whilst leaving the military, from our training smashed his 5km time by nearly 4 mins

Reehan annoyingly had some sucky viral stuff, but is probably one of the only BJJ guys ripping deadlifts at nearly 200kg at his VBT

This is just a little look at what we can do

Combine
121
& mentoring (btw not just have a look at business, we can have a look at training aswell)

Il be taking on new clients as always throughout Christmas time

If you ever thought about joining my team and having me in your back pocket

Drop me a message and il always say hello!

Your yearly Christmas chocolate quiz…

Discussions… chats… tangents… in your favorite podcast space now x

(YouTube later… as I’m on phone internet….😂)

Dan is disgusted with the British publics choices on Christmas chocolate…

I am disappointed on the guy stealing a living trying to train poor footballers

&

We are both amazed by the other use of tennis balls

If you listen to the podcast, give it a share, send us a like or reach out

We love to hear that people are listening 🥳

And would love for anybody else who you think might like it to have a listen 🎧

Demos - Does Your Coach Even Do Them?

Anybody who has been to one of my seminars or education

Knows I’m a massssssive person for demos

“But what if the person learns best by listening…”

🙄sigh…

That may be, but if your demo looks like a sack of potatoes & you describe the Mona Lisa…

I still think I’m more likely to get a client that looks like a sack of potatoes

-

In a recent podcast myself and literally said… we get up and down in our video check ins trying to demo and correct form

I hope your online coach does aswell

Usually online coaches use simpler exercises… as the journey is slower from A to B in exercise progression

If you want to learn some fancier ones with a bit of online no how…

You have 3 options

See a coach in person
YouTube the crap out of it
Come speak to me 😏

-

I personally gurrantee I can do every exercise pretty well I dish out (hence why I don’t train many back flip specialists)

Tom in 10ish

A series of shortish… videos

Where I explain different ideas, subjects etc

This week, I breakdown a field based athlete session

Why I might do some things, how I pair them together and what I look for when they are performed

Go grab a subscribe and like etc x

7 New Wonders Of Exercise… 😏

When I wrote a cracking course called “PTCore”

I came up with some loose rules to simplify exercise progression

To help coaches progress their clients (and themselves) simply and with a little physics

Then we added some baseline movements

These were the ones we could keep coming back to

If we nail the baseline we earn the right to go on to some fancier stuff

Back squats… f*** me… 90% of gym goers do not have the right to do this, trust me

I 10000% encourage you to come up with your own baselines & continuum’s

But if you want to have a look at my baselines… il put them on my email list this week 📧

Oh have you got any other “before” quotes 😂

Sounds like marriage before… playtime 😳

Comment down below your rule… 😂
