Having backed LFS since 2016, they’ve been part of our journey from the very beginning. Based in Tufnell Park, they’re an independent butchers and delicatessen built on high standards and a strong sense of community, principles we’re proud to share here at LFS.

Everyone at LFS is incredibly proud to congratulate Luca Powell on signing for Queens Park Rangers F.C.

Luca joined LFS as a 10 year old, and looking back at footage from his earliest training sessions makes this moment even more special. From a young age, Luca had a real appetite for learning and was always looking for ways to improve his game.

Whilst Luca is now an outstanding goalkeeper, his development was never limited to playing in goal. Throughout his time at LFS he spent plenty of time playing outfield, where his technical ability, decision making, confidence in possession and understanding of the game were equally impressive. Those qualities continue to set him apart whenever he plays.

We are really proud that as of next season we have committed to giving every goalkeeper from U11 down minutes playing in outfield positions in order for them to achieve the skillset they need to play at a high level in the modern game, an approach that worked so well with Luca.

This was apparent during our 21 to 1 event last year, where Luca showcased exactly why today’s goalkeepers need far more than shot stopping ability. His composure, athleticism, and quality on the ball stood out throughout.

Like many young players, Luca’s journey hasn’t always been straightforward. There have been opportunities that worked out and others that didn’t, but he has always stayed patient and kept improving.

This achievement is made even more special by the LFS connection. Luca was originally identified by LFS Head of Teams Charles, who recognised his potential early and was able to provide Luca an opportunity through his QPR scouting role. To see both player and coach continue their journeys together at the same club is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Congratulations, Luca. From your first sessions with us as a 10 year old to signing for a professional club, we couldn’t be prouder.
