Power often reveals what’s in the heart.

It reveals the character flaws. It shows the gaps.

To quote Stephen Covey, “private victories precede public ones”. So, power exposes the victories that haven’t been won in private.

Don’t be in a rush for power or public exposure while you still have things to work on. Take the time to do the deep work. Learn to master those things you know need work.

If you’re in the background doing the work and no one sees, that’s ok, keep going. If you feel like you’re being overlooked, don’t worry about that, keep focused on the things you know need work.

Because remember, how you handle power, recognition, success, acknowledgement says a lot about your character. So, before those things come (which they will) make sure you’re ready.

And oh, interesting fact, people often attribute this quote to Abraham Lincoln, but he didn’t say it. It was Robert Ingersoll (an American politician), saying this quote about Abraham Lincoln. Ingersoll was giving Lincoln credit for showing great character when he had absolute power.

Don’t listen to this voice. It tells lies!

The voice of condemnation that tells you that you “can’t do it”, “you’re not good enough”, “you don’t have enough”…never forgives. It’s a voice that is ready to tell you that what you have in your heart “isn’t possible”.

It’s ready to give you proof from your past. It’s ready to give you evidence as to why “it’s NOT possible”. Whatever the goal, this voice is ready to tell you why “you can’t achieve it”.

Sometimes this voice is a voice in your head and sometimes it’s actual people. Whichever one it is, don’t listen to it. It’s a liar!
