"Each moment of our lives, each moment that is given to us to live, we have to live very deeply. If you are capable of living deeply one moment of your life, you can learn to live the same way all the other moments of your life."
-Thich Nhat Hanh (Teachings on Love)

Embodiment - means congruence with the way you think, speak and act
This and more … is why I include movement and dance in my workshops and residential retreats
I include dances of connection – the Discipline of Authentic Movement and the Dance of Life into some NVC trainings and well-being events.

It is important to understand that dance isn’t the primary focus of my work; rather, it serves as a medium that aids us in reconnecting with ourselves and others.

Your body is an essential aspect of who you are and how you show up in the world.

In our busy lives, we can become cut off from feeling the fullness of life.

Movement and dance have the power to restore your natural instinct for care, contact, creativity and play. Scientifically, dancing is proven to boost happiness, it releases mood-lifting dopamine and endorphins and lowers stress hormones like cortisol – promoting relaxation.

Dance heightens emotional intelligence

While some people love to dance, others might feel embarrassed, saying things like “I can’t dance, I have no rhythm.” Interestingly, both groups often feel the benefits of Conscious Dance. There are no specific steps to learn or a right or wrong way to do it.

We move to diverse world music, exploring various tempos and rhythms.

I utilize Laban efforts and Toro aspects to enrich our movement vocabulary.

You will be invited to connect with qualities of empowerment and sensitivity through dialogue dances and generative postures and to explore, your relationship with space, balance, flow, strength, lightness, activity, contact and stillness. Centring and grounding yourself, for effective nervous system regulation.

Movement mediation
Through involvement in movement and conscious dance, you’ll nurture mindful presence with your inner witness and connection with others, developing a kinaesthetic language that intertwines movement with your life experience.

This heightened awareness can open you up to more choice about how you respond to the present instead of reacting to past
conditioning.

It supports a life well lived through all senses, embodied experience and empathic presence.

Connecting with your body’s natural sensing system offers an opportunity for your mind, body, and soul to synch!

‘There is more wisdom in your body than in your deepest philosophies.’ Friedrich Nietzche

Embodiment
Embodiment is not something you think about, it needs to be experienced and practiced.

To be embodied, is to feel more connected to yourself, to nature and to others, to breathe, move, dance, express and sing; to be still and kind to yourself. It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Embodiment is about tuning into ourselves, with somatic awareness and a curiosity about the way the body moves and the language it speaks – becoming the witness, increasing presence and authentic relating.

My embodiment journey began decades ago, through deep engagement with a range of practices including Yoga, NLP, NVC, Reiki, Mindfulness, Laban Bartenieff, and Feldenkrais movement work.

Over the years, I worked with both children and adults, offering movement as a way to support meaningful engagement with experiences.

Personally, I dance Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms, Open Floor, and Chakra Dance, and I am a qualified facilitator of the therapeutic dance system Biodanza (also known as the dance of life)

In 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, I co-founded the Dance Connection system with Julia Hope Brightwell. Julia has continued to evolve the system and now leads the Wessex teacher training school and classes in Bridport, UK.

I also practice and share the Discipline of Authentic Movement, developed by Janet Adler and inspired by the pioneering work of Mary Starks Whitehouse and work under the supervision of Dr Helen Payne.

“Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. It is not dependent on some other body, some external form.” —Eckhart Tolle

NVC FOUNDATION TRAINING
I courses starting before the summer. This begins 4 June
This communication training is for anyone new to Nonviolent Communication or wanting to refresh the basics. Each session presents intellectual and experiential opportunities for using NVC in personal and professional situations. This is what a few past participants have said:
“Really enjoyed the course. Our teacher Tracy was brilliant. Really informative and very approachable. I would def attend another NVC course with this teacher” A
“This training and the revelation that broke through the fog I had been living in like a shaft of pure sunlight has forever changed my life for the better and so will change the lives of my family and friends and the young people I work within my teaching” S
“I have just had the first mediation session online with my wife. This is the first time either of us have seen each other since the separation. I listened and had empathy for her and it made a huge difference to our communication compared to how it used to be. Her reaction to the changes in my communication and the fact that I could hear her for the first time in 15 years were palpable” JA
