✨ Today I had the privilege of teaching two yoga classes to students at MBO College Zuidoost, part of the ROC van Amsterdam, who are training for careers in law enforcement and security. ✨
This offering came to life through an idea that my longtime friend, Ruth, who works with these students, had. She recognised how important it is to create spaces where young people can pause, breathe, and prioritise their wellbeing, and together we brought that vision to life.
These are professions that demand resilience, presence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. That is why I believe mindfulness and mental health practices are just as important as physical and technical training.
Together, we explored breathwork, meditation, and yoga. At the start, I could feel the nerves in the room, but by the end there was excitement, laughter, and a beautiful sense of calm. Watching them settle into themselves and leave feeling more grounded was incredibly powerful.
I love working with young adults because they are learning not only how to build a career, but also how to care for themselves along the way.
And a huge shout-out to these students for doing it all in English! They were so open, engaged, and willing to embrace the experience.
The world needs people in law enforcement who know how to regulate their nervous systems, lead with presence, and care for their own wellbeing while supporting others.
A special thank you to Ruth for seeing the value of this work and helping make it happen. 🤍✨ Love you .95
