One of the biggest mistakes businesses make on social media is talking at their audience instead of with them.
β Not replying to comments
β Ignoring DMs
β Not listening to what posts their audience is engaging with and using the data to inform future ones
Itβs easy to fall into the trap of just posting what YOU think is important, and brushing what your audience tells you is working to the side; the answers are right there in front of you.
Think of your audience like passengers in an Uber π If you keep driving without asking where they want to go, theyβll eventually hop out and find someone who will take them where they need to be. Their direction should be the driving force behind at least 80% of the content you put out.
Ask them what they want to see. Use polls, Q&As, and comments as a way to plan your content. Stay close to the numbers: What content format -- video, image, carousel etc. -- performs best? What topics are getting the most saves, shares, and views? What questions are sparking meaningful conversations?
Put your audience in the driving seat and see where you end up! You'll probably be pleasantly surprised... π£οΈ

In a world where we're used to receiving things instantaneously, why should social media results be any different? π€
Social media isn't a quick win β it really isn't. Thinking otherwise is going to cause you a lot of confusion and frustration later down the line.
In the second post of my series: Things I can't (and won't guarantee as your social media content marketer), I explain how you'd benefit from reframing your thinking and managing expectations that are rooted in reality. Slow and steady wins the race! π’ππ

You've probably heard the phrase "content is king" and itβs true. But without building (or at least planning) the right "kingdom" first, it's wasted energy.
What do I mean by "kingdom"? I mean your social media presence itself: your social media & content strategy, the right platforms (that work for you), and a content plan. Great content, branding, and purpose helps to build trust and create a connection with your audience, but your strategy lays the essential foundations.
1) Choose your platforms: Not every platform is the same and not every platform is right for you. There's absolutely no point in choosing to be on a platform just for the sake of it. You'll get burnt out and your audience that you have managed to build there will wonder where you've gone when you inevitably disappear from lack of interest. Choose 1-2 max when you're just starting out and focus your efforts there.
2) Give your content a voice: Your content needs a strong, consistent brand voice and messaging to establish credibility and authority. Your business isn't the same as all the others out there, so you shouldn't try to sound/look like them online, too. Sound and look like you!
3) Also, don't get too caught up in the numbers: This is especially true at the beginning when the platforms' algorithms are trying to find an audience for your content. It's easy to compare, too, so try not to. But also, I believe that the way audiences engage is changing. Views have become an essential metric to track, because audiences are now 'silently' engaging with content i.e. they view and consume, but they don't necessarily hit like or comment. It doesn't mean your content isn't being seen - it is. But it's easy to believe that it's falling on deaf ears when you only get 3 likes. Looks are deceiving!
Does your content already rule or does your kingdom need some nurturing?

If you're in the market for a social media professional to complement your business, please be wary of anyone trying to promise you the world... π

You aren't a circus clown π€‘ so why are you trying to juggle everything?
Running and owning a small business is extremely tough and time consuming. There are multiple hats to wear, and then at the end of a long day you remember you still have to post on social media. Posting when your emotional, mental, and physical bank balance is empty is futile -- and your audience will feel it!
You know the power that social media content holds is unmatched, you just lack the motivation, time, or skills to create a content strategy that will align with your business goals. So, it's time to get some help.
While you're focusing on serving your clients, customers or team, a professional content marketer (ππ») could be nurturing your channels with strategy-led, thumb-stopping content that sounds and feels like you/your business.
My clients feel that I'm an extension of their business, whom they can lean on and (most importantly) trust to get the job done (and done well) while they are attending to other matters.
It's 2025: burnout is out, help is in.
DM me for a no-strings chat about how you can offload your content needs so we can find a solution that lets you sleep a little easier at night... π΄
