Everyone at Wests Warriors RL is saddened to hear of the passing of rugby league legend John Kear.
We were fortunate enough to meet and spend time talking with John when Wests Warriors faced Widnes Vikings in the Challenge Cup.
John was generous with his time, welcoming and passionate about the game he loved.
John's contribution to rugby league was immense as a coach, mentor and ambassador for the sport, he inspired countless players, coaches and supporters throughout his career. His knowledge, humility and love for rugby league earned him the respect and admiration of people across the game.
The rugby league community has lost a true legend but his legacy and impact on the sport will live on for generations to come.
Our thoughts and condolences are with John's family, friends and everyone at the clubs and communities he touched throughout his remarkable career.
Rest easy, John.

📢 FIXTURE UPDATE
Unfortunately, both of our scheduled fixtures for Saturday 16th May have been called off as both our opposition are unable to field teams.
This is obviously disappointing for our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters after all the preparation that goes into a match day.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and understanding.
We’ll regroup, continue working hard at training and look forward to getting back on the field next round.

NCS Round 4 Result
Wests Warriors 24 – 22 Hammersmith Hills Hoists
In one of the toughest and most physical contests of the season, the lads edged out Hammersmith Hills Hoists 24–22 in a match that swung back and forth from the opening whistle to the final minute.
With just one minute left on the clock and Hammersmith up by two in a fierce battle, the boys produced the decisive moment.
After only moments earlier pulling off a sensational last-ditch tackle to deny Hammersmith in the corner, winger Mohamed Hammad crossed in the opposite corner to score the match-winning try and send the home crowd into celebration.
The lads then held firm defensively to close out a gritty and hard-fought victory.
It was fantastic to welcome Louis Robinson back after two months on the sidelines through injury, Louis led from the front with strong carries and trademark toughness.
Dylan Leney made a huge impact off the bench and was deservedly named Man of the Match, while Toby Winterbottom laid the platform with powerful carries and some punishing defence.
Congratulations also to Alex McMillan, who made his First Grade debut for the club.

Reserve Grade Match Report
Wests Warriors 34 – 40 Elmbridge Eagles
A tough afternoon for our Reserve Grade side, going down 40–34 to Elmbridge Eagles in an entertaining contest at Wasps FC.
Congratulations to Elmbridge on the win.
We were well below our standards in the first half, with too many errors and missed opportunities putting us under pressure.
To the boys’ credit, they showed plenty of character after the break, regrouping and mounting a strong second-half comeback that fell just short.
🔥 Man of the Match: Miqhail Tangaroa
Miqhail was outstanding from ho**er, proving a constant threat around the ruck and crossing for a superb hat-trick.
💪 Ryan Couch also made a strong return, grabbing two tries in an impressive comeback performance.
👏 Congratulations to our debutants:

* Danny Watts
* Elijah Joseph
* Troy Reid
