London Youth Games is a charity that uses the power of sport and physical activity to provide life-changing opportunities to over 10,000 young people in London per year.

This Sunday, Daniel will be running the Hackney Half in support of London Youth Games.

Daniel first got involved with LYG during secondary school, where he competed in our cross country event, and is now running to help us continue creating life-changing opportunities for young people across all 33 London boroughs.

Over the past 49 years, we’ve reached more than 2,000,000 young people.

If you’re able to support Daniel’s run, every penny will help us continue this important work.

Thank you for your support 👇

Marina has been a regular volunteer with London Youth Games for over 13 years (!) and also spent six months with us an intern.

Next month, she's taking on the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money to benefit London Youth Games Foundation.

Marina said: "The experiences and networking opportunities with LYG still influence my professional, personal and physical life today. Every contribution, big or small, makes an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution it means a lot to me and the young people LYG helps."

She’s raising money to help us continue reaching over 10,000 young Londoners each year across 33 boroughs and 37 sports.

Marina has already raised £200 and is aiming for £500 - if you’re able to support her, it would mean a lot to both to Marina and to the young people we work with 👇

This year, Laura is taking on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon for London Youth Games.

This is Laura's first time running the London Marathon and it will be her biggest running challenge faced yet, having taken part in a handful of shorter distance events over the last few years. She has put in a consistent block of training through the dark, cold winter months and is feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety at the prospect of such an iconic event.

By supporting Laura, you’re helping transform young lives across London.

For nearly five decades, London Youth Games has given over two million young people the chance to discover sport, build confidence and feel pride in their community. It’s where stars like Mo Farah, Dina Asher-Smith and Alex Yee first found their path.

Please give what you can. Every pound makes a real difference. Donate here: https://app.givematch.com/fr/mMAqpt15

This year at LYG Judo, we introduced a new category for Red Belts (novices), which allowed early-stage judoka to experience the joy of competing.

At the event, over a quarter of the participants at the event were red belts - helping them to start out their journey in judo.

Many judokas from a range of belts also had the opportunity to earn their first-ever competition medals.

Well done to all those who took part!

Today, over 400 young judokas from across capital are coming to compete in LYG judo, putting their learnings into practise in competitive matches.

This year, we’re proud to be more inclusive too, including red belts in the competition to enable more novice players to experience competitive matches.

The inclusion of Judo at the London Youth Games has helped launch the careers of several athletes. The likes of Olympic Bronze medalist, Karina Bryant (Kingston), Olympic Silver medalist, Gemma Gibbons (Greenwich), Olympians Ashley McKenzie (Westminster) and Nekoda Smythe-Davis (Brent) all benefitted from this competition at the start of their careers.

We are delighted to partner with the (BDSA) to give hundreds of young Londoners the chance to increase their physical activity and wellbeing through the joy of dance.

This partnership will expand opportunities to primary school children across London, enabling them to participate alongside their secondary school peers, building self-confidence and community pride.

Together, we’ll enable the delivery of a pilot dance competition for Primary Schools in three London Boroughs.

This is a new initiative for London Youth Games, and it forms part of the BDSA’s strategic plan to encourage more participation for young people within dance.

The winners from each borough will also have the opportunity to showcase their dance as part of the LYG Dance Finals in July.

An exciting partnership for the next generation of dancers!
