Ruth's BIG Swim

A little 3k evening swim tonight in the gorgeous 50m outdoor pool at De Mirandabad, Amsterdam. Lap swimming by sunset. Glorious ☀️

1 weekend; 2 days; 3 swims. A double dip today with a chilly breeze blowing. And a unexpected underwater video!

It was really hard to get warm and dry (in woolly hat & socks, dry robe with a hot water bottle tucked inside, hand warmer shoved down my cleavage, a warm car engine running and a flask of hot tea), only to get back into swimsuit, hat and goggles for another round of cold and wet water 🥶

An evening swim in a fabulous Edwardian Bath House while working in Manchester this week. Built in 1913, Withington Baths & Leisure Centre was the first public baths in Machester to allow mixed bathing.

Raynauds doesn't help when open water swimming. Come on fingers - 5 of you have made it back from the dead; 3 to go...

I'm fortunate that where I pool swim, there's both an indoor and an outdoor pool. So it was a quick 3k in the sunshine yesterday, slotted in between a piano pupil and an AGM. Had the one lane to myself and it was even warm enough for a few brave sunbathers (apparently).

The bathroom aftermath of 2 consecutive swim days - one pool, one open water...

No swim opportunities on a work trip to New York last week, but a few sunrise runs around Battery Park with the Statue of Liberty in the distance was more than a good substitute! 🗽
