There’s something about a place that asks nothing of you that paradoxically makes it easier for you to produce and create something

Yesterday I was called a ‘banana’ by a local Chinese meaning you look yellow on the outside (Southeast Asian skin colour) but white washed on the inside. I’m not sure how I feel about that judgement / label / joke. Sure I might have been Americanised and British-nised, but I can be really Chinese too!
