HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! 2025 has been an incredible year for us at DCT, with new ventures, initiatives and brilliant people. We’ll be telling you all about them over the next few days to give you an update because…we’re not on socials regularly as when we go quiet, it means we are BUSY with our community, in person, doing many things together, building real world work and relationships.

And now we’d like to tell you what we’ve been up to!!

But for today, for your 2026 we’d like to leave you with this simple message: EVERYTHING starts as an idea. Start moving and watch the magic leap out of you, it is in your hands. You won’t be the only one who notices.

FOR ACTORS AND DIRECTORS:

A four-week, fully immersive workshop designed to reconnect you with your most powerful communicative tool: your body-voice. Across four energising sessions, you’ll stretch your physical and vocal range, challenge your habits, and unlock new layers of presence and clarity.

By the end, you will:

-Speak with greater impact by grounding your voice in your body.
-Discover new resonance and vocal freedom through dynamic movement and breath work.
-Connect emotionally and authentically to any text you speak.
-Build repeatable techniques you can use in performance, presentations, or daily communication.

Prepare to work at your own level — and just beyond it — as you explore what your voice is truly capable of.

This workshop is for professional actors who want to improve their voice work practice and theatre directors or facilitators who may want to learn techniques to run voice warm ups in their rehearsals or workshops.

Our masterclass series of workshops are exclusively for those who have ever been a part of the clubs (actors/directors or writers club) at The Director’s Cut community.

We are so excited to announce our new Masterclass series that will run between club terms, offering something different to what we usually do! Exclusive to anyone who has been a member of Director’s Cut, so you’ll be amongst friends! This winter we have the brilliant Scott Brooksbank who will be running ‘Unlocking Shakespeare’. Workshops will be on Wednesday evenings 7-9pm on the 14th, 21st, 28th Jan and 3th Feb.

Workshop description:
These sessions will focus on unlocking the magic and treasures of Shakespeare’s verse. For actors, we will explore how we can harness its power and ‘surf’ the text, enabling us to speak it in a way that makes more sense, makes us more present on stage, and sound more human. The sessions will be active and fun, with lots of play. We will progress from working generally to focusing on specific scenes, and the aim is to make the learning cumulative over the course of the four classes. For writers, we’ll be exploring the form and structure of the language and how it can help and feed into the rhythm and flow of the actor’s performance; and for directors, the sessions will give insight into how to unlock classical texts for actors.

About your workshop leader:

Scott trained at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he recently returned as a project director. He also teaches and directs for Rose Bruford, Fourth Monkey, Central, LAMDA and Drama Studio London. He is a practitioner for the Creative Learning team at the RSC, and a workshop leader and storyteller for the Education Department at Shakespeare’s Globe.

He is a leading member and Associate Director of experimental theatre company The Factory, with whom he has played Cymbeline, The Tempest, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, The Odyssey, Hamlet, The Seagull, Round Two, As You Like it, Cymbeline, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Pericles, Timon of Athens, Troilus & Cressida, Love’s Labour’s Lost, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and Measure for Measure.
