Written by Özen Yula and directed by Gökhan Kocaoğlu, this performance traces Roxelana’s path from the Sultan’s harem to the heart of state politics, exploring tensions between power, loyalty and personal will.

The production combines traditional elements—such as shadow play and masks—with a contemporary theatrical approach.
Cansu Akdeniz’s masks, Zeynep Kartal’s costumes, and Selçuk Yılmaz’s music help create a layered and immersive atmosphere.
Performed by Dilek Yorulmaz and Petek Kırboğa, the story unfolds on stage in Turkish with English surtitles.

A collaboration between Nefes Productions and Asmalı Sahne London.

Özen Yula’nın yazdığı, Gökhan Kocaoğlu’nun yönettiği oyun, Hürrem Sultan’ın saraydan devlete uzanan yolculuğunu kişisel ve politik çatışmalar üzerinden ele alıyor. Hikâye, gölge oyunu ve maskeler gibi geleneksel unsurların çağdaş bir sahne diliyle birleşmesiyle anlatılıyor.

Cansu Akdeniz’in maskeleri, Zeynep Kartal’ın kostümleri ve Selçuk Yılmaz’ın müzikleri sahnede döneme ait güçlü bir atmosfer kuruyor.
Oyuncular Dilek Yorulmaz ve Petek Kırboğa, bu çok katmanlı anlatıya sahnede hayat veriyor.

Size sarayla ilgili bir hikaye anlatacağız. Bir gün Osmanlı’nın sarayına Ukrayna asıllı Roxalana gelmiş. Ardında bıraktığı ailesine çok üzülen ve acılar çeken bu cariye Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’ın kabini kazanarak ilk kez ona resmi nikah kıydıran kadın olmuş. 1558’de dünyaya veda edene kadar bir döneme damgasını vuran Hürrem Sultan’ın haremdeki entrikalarla dolu unutulmaz hikayesine tanık olacaksınız. Haremdeki bir cariyeden koskaca imparatorluğu yöneten bir sultana dönüşmenin gayrı resmi hikayesi karşınızda.



We will tell you a story about a palace. One day, a woman of Ukrainian origin named Roxalana arrived at the Ottoman palace. Deeply saddened and suffering from leaving her family behind, this concubine won the heart of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and became the first woman to have a formal marriage with him. Witness the unforgettable story of Hürrem Sultan, who left her mark on an era with the intrigues in the harem until she bid farewell to the world in 1558. Here is the unofficial story of how a concubine from the harem transformed into a sultan who ruled a vast empire.
