These aren’t official police standards. They’re the standards I believe would help officers become more capable and better prepared for the realities of the job.
1. Run 400 metres in under 1:45
Build the ability to sprint, chase and recover.
2. Complete 5 strict pull-ups
Pull your own bodyweight over walls, fences and obstacles.
3. Carry your own bodyweight for 50 metres
Grip strength, posture and load carriage all matter.
4. Drag a casualty weighing your bodyweight + 10 kg for 20 metres
Simulate moving an injured colleague or member of the public to safety.
5. Recover enough to communicate clearly within 60 seconds of a maximal effort
Physical fitness is only useful if you can think, communicate and make decisions immediately afterwards.
Which one would you add?
Dm or comment PREP and I’ll go through the exact system I use to train officers to be operationally ready.
