Not sure if it’s the phase of my cycle, the shift in season, or what, but I’ve struggled to motivate myself this past week.

And that’s normal. Motivation isn’t constant, so when mine disappears, these are five things I’ve changed to keep moving in a way that feels aligned:

1. Make it FUN.
Train something I actually want to do. Handstands, calisthenics, a new skill. Movement doesn’t always need to be programmed.

2. Lower the bar.
Tell myself I only need to do 20 minutes. Something is better than nothing.

3. Change the environment.
Different gym, different class, train outside, train with someone. Novelty can give you that little dopamine boost.

4. Stop chasing PBs.
Not every session needs to be about progression. Sometimes moving because it feels good is enough.

5. Remember my WHY.
I’m not training for one workout. I’m training for the strong, capable body I want for decades to come.

An old video but still a lot of the drills and activation exercises I use today for building arm balance strength, mobility and body awareness.

Crow pose was the first arm balance I learnt and is generally considered the most accessible but I wouldn’t agree it is for everyone as it actually requires a lot of loaded wrist extension.

Great day on Sunday at the dr calisthenics power endurance competition.

First time competing like this and it has definitely given me the bug to train harder.

I achieved what I set out to do and got a PB in pull ups and dips and won the beginner squat category. I couldn’t do a single body weight pull up or dip when I entered.

Body weight pull ups = 3 (previous best 2)
3.75kg dips = 6 (previous best 4)
36.5kg squats = 34 (not a PB but it taught me the most about pacing)

Thrilled with my pull up and dip progress. Should have paced better on my squats as I started off too fast and I was not sure I was gonna make ten to begin with, then I remembered to breathe and started pacing better and found my flow again.

Happy international women’s day.

Today I’m celebrating all the incredible women in my life, those I’ve known for years, those I’ve only crossed paths with briefly, and those I’m yet to meet.

Working with women has given me a deeper insight into the collective wounds and traumas many of us carry, but also the beautiful individuality that lives within each of us. In helping others gently unpick their stories and heal their wounds, I’ve also been invited to meet parts of my own, the deeper layers that were waiting to be seen.

International days can sometimes feel a little cliché, or like they’re paying lip service to deeper societal truths. But today, I want to honour something real.

I’m deeply grateful to my mum, who brought me into this world and loved me unconditionally even during times when my own inner world struggled with who I thought she should be.

I’m grateful to my daughter, who showed me the deepest meaning of unconditional love, and who continues to teach me that sometimes the most loving thing we can do is allow someone the space to discover who they are and experience life as it’s meant for them.

I’m grateful for the friends in my life, past and present, who have lit up different parts of me and filled my life with fun, laughter, and sisterhood.

And I’m also grateful for the women who have triggered the hell out of me. The ones whose actions, often unknowingly, touched the deepest wounds within me. Moments that may have felt small or insignificant to them, but became catalysts for growth within me.

Every woman we meet becomes part of our journey.

Some hold us in love.
Some mirror our wounds.
Some awaken parts of us we didn’t know were there.

But each one, in her own way, walks alongside us for a while.

May we see each other not as competition or comparison, but as fellow travellers on the path supporting one another through our own journeys, of personal reflection, and growth.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love… it’s about every form of love, including the way you treat your own body.

Movement isn’t about burning off dinner, shrinking yourself, or chasing a number on a scale…
It’s an act of devotion.

A way to give yourself more energy, pleasure and longevity.

The most sustainable way to move your body is to choose what feels good.

Maybe that looks like:

☀️A walk in the sunshine.
💪🏼A strength session that makes you feel powerful.
🧘🏻‍♀️Yoga that softens your nervous system.
💃🏻Dancing in your kitchen to your favourite song.

When you move from love instead of punishment, everything changes, including your hormones, your stress levels, and your relationship with yourself.

Today, instead of asking “What should I do?”
Ask: “What would feel good?”

That’s self-love in action. 💘

Mobility isn’t something you “add in” on rest days…
Or only think about once something starts hurting 😳

It should be a non-negotiable part of your training.

Mobility is what makes movement feel good.
It’s what allows your joints to move freely, your muscles to lengthen and contract efficiently, and your nervous system to feel safe in range.

When you train mobility consistently you:

✨ Improve joint health
✨ Reduce injury risk
✨ Support better posture
✨ Enhance strength output
✨ Improve circulation and recovery
✨ Maintain independence as you age

Strength without range is a short-sighted game.

If you only build strength in limited ranges, your body will eventually compensate. And compensation is where pain, stiffness and dysfunction begin.

True physical wellness isn’t just about lifting heavier.
It’s about moving well, feeling fluid, and maintaining capacity for life, not just workouts.

Mobility is longevity training.

You may have noticed that some days you smash a workout.
Some days your body says ‘absolutely not.’

That’s not laziness or crap consistency that’s just biology.

Training with your cycle isn’t about avoiding anything that challenges you and only having two weeks where you lift. It’s about doing what actually works for your body.

Listening is way more powerful than pushing through

Mobility is what allows you to keep your strength usable, your joints nourished, and your body moving without fear or compensation.

As we age, it’s not strength alone that determines quality of life it’s the ability to move well through full, controlled ranges.

Mobility work:
• protects your joints
• supports your nervous system
• reduces aches and stiffness
• keeps everyday movements effortless
• allows you to keep doing what you love, for longer

It’s about staying capable, confident, and comfortable in your body for decades to come. Train for longevity.
