Conquering Gym Anxiety! Here are some tips to help you.
1. Start Small: Begin with short or simple workouts to ease into the gym environment. This will help you get comfortable and build your confidence. Pick two exercises you feel confident, once you feel confident, add more in!
2. Plan Ahead: Create a workout routine beforehand, so you know exactly what to do when you’re there. This can help you feel more in control and confident. Take a notebook with you with a workout plan written down, or use your phone.
3. Off-Peak times: Choose quieter hours to avoid crowds which might help you feel more comfortable. This can help create a more relaxed environment to give you space to explore different exercises without feeling watched or judged.
4. Focus on You: Everyone is at the gym to better themselves. Remember why you are are at the gym in the first place, most people are focusing on their own workouts, shift your focus inwards and concentrate on your own progress and goals.
5. Personal trainer: Hire a trainer for a short period of time and let them teach you! They can show you the ropes and help you familiarise yourself with the gym equipment and exercises.
