We introduce tots to a wide range of co-ordination equipment which aims to develop eye-hand, eye-foot and eye-hand-foot control. All important skills for any budding sportsperson, but also really important for early years education. Fine motor skills such as holding a hoop with pinchy fingers, helps develop finger strength to hold a pencil when learning to write. And tracking moving items like balls and beanbags develops stronger eye control, which will make it easier for them to focus on their reading. All great skills for life!

National Children’s Activity Week 2023!

The ABCs of movement refer to four basic capacities that support human movement: agility, balance, coordination, and not to forget climbing. All four are essential to developing the fundamental movement skills of each human being.

Fundamental movement skills (FMS) are the basic movements traditionally associated with human physical activity. The most common FMS include skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, climbing, skipping, and hopping.

👶6 Month to Walking - Physical Fun 👶
Whether your Tumble Tot is sitting up unaided, starting to crawl, or is up and learning to walk, our class environment provides opportunities to develop each physical skill at their individual pace.

The equipment in our classes is extremely versatile and we work with you and your Tumble Tot to not only suggest activities depending on the physical capabilities of your baby. But, they will also share insight into the short-term and long-term benefits of the activity and continue to look for ways to progress and challenge each Tumble Tot.

When you come into one of our class you may think ‘wow, there are a LOT of ladders!’ And yes, we do have a lot of climbing. In fact, babies will climb the stairs before they can walk. And it all starts with crawling as that is what helps them with their cross-lateral development – working opposite arm to leg. That’s why we encourage parents to not try and skip the crawling stage and go straight to walking, as the baby will miss out on this important gross motor skill practice.

Climbing helps strengthen upper and lower body strength, helps with spatial awareness and even helps with problem solving. Right from the start of your child's Tumble Tots journey they are encouraged to turn around at the top of their climb and come down backwards. This come in super handy at home when the child stops throwing themselves head first off furniture, and instead stops, turns and climbs or slides down safely.

While waiting their turn to climb they develop social skills. And by allowing Tumble Tot coaches to assist them, they are learning that adults are there to help and they start to develop trust in someone other than close family members. Great preparation for nursery or school!

Our confident climbers can easily be spotted in a play area. They are usually the youngest, smallest and bravest, with their parents watching on proudly…

If you haven't booked already, book a trial at www.tumbletots.com/marlow and let your child reach new heights this year!
