This picture is from Chelmsford parkrun last Saturday .Sadly one of the runners is no longer with us .The guy with the orange bandana and green socks is Keith Flint, Prodigy frontman and parkrunner who apparently took his own life yesterday .We don't know what goes on in someone elses head and mental illness does not differ between the wealthy and successful or the poor and impoverished .So reach out at your next run and say hello to the runner next to you ,unplug those headphones and chat, you never know the interaction maybe what someone needs,.parkrun can play an important role in the physical and mental well being of many unfortunately whatever troubled Keith was too much for him to deal with .If posts like mine help someone seek help to overcome their demons then his untimely death will not have been in vain

I replied to Womens Running on FB earlier when they asked what advice would you give to a new runner. My answer seems to be poplar so thought I'd repeat it here.
Double knot your laces.
Stick a tissue in your pocket or sleeve.
One foot in front of the other.
Ease into it so ensuring you have warmed up.
Don't worry about what anyone else is thinking.
Stretch once you've finished your walk/jog/run
