Bray Lake Open Water Swimming

Additional open water swim sessions now available for booking at Bray Lake Watersports - including Tuesday mornings sessions from 6am-7am. Please see further details below.

Following this week of swim sessions we now feel able to open up more spaces and times for open water swimming.



We have increased the number of spaces for each slot starting from today so if anyone has been unable to book a slot for this weekend there are now some additional spaces available.



Starting this Tuesday 9th June we have also opened a swim slot from 6am – 7am which will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.



These sessions are now available to be booked online. Please remember sessions must be pre-booked online, you will be unable to swim if you do not have a booking.

Open water swimming is resuming at Bray Lake - please carefully read the email below regarding booking and other changes to open water swimming sessions which the Bray Lake team have put in place to provide a safe environment for customers and staff.

Bray Lake Watersports Additional Rules and Guidelines

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the lake. But to ensure that we all enjoy ourselves and stay safe please read ALL our guidelines and rules. Failure to comply with these guidelines will risk your participation, being refused entry, or asked to leave, with no refund.
Once open water swimming is available again this will be for experienced participants only. There is currently no wet suit rental.

Before coming to the Lake
1. You must ensure you have completed a Friend of Bray Lake registration or have a paid membership and this must still be in date. Information and a link to our registration page can be found on our website. This is your online swim wavier and terms and conditions.
2. All bookings must be made in advance online via our website unless otherwise stated– you are not permitted to attend without a booking.
3. No spectators or family members are permitted to accompany participants – unless accompanying a disabled participant or a participant who is under 18 (only one guardian permitted).
4. If you or anyone living with you has any symptoms of Covid-19 please stay at home, do not come to the centre.
5. DO NOT visit us if you are at an increased risk of severe illness from Covid-19.
6. Please use the toilet before leaving home, there will be limited toilets on site, but we would prefer that you did not use them. If you do need to use a toilet here, you will be required to clean it before and after use.

Arrival at Bray Watersports
1. Please arrive at the Centre no earlier than 30 minutes before your booked session.
2. On arrival, park and walk up to the Centre. The new entrance is past the main building on the Westside. Please follow the signs past the barrier.
3. Please arrive ready to go or have a suitable changing robe or towel. We have limited outside changing cubicles available if required.
4. Check in at our new outside reception area. While waiting to sign-in please ensure you are 2m apart. There are mats on the floor to indicate the correct distance.
5. Wait for the reception to clear before approaching.
6. Do not bring valuables to the lake. There is an outside bag drop area but only limited secure storage.
7. Please remember to take home all personal items, we will no longer hold any lost property, left items will be disposed of.
8. If possible, you should bring your own hand sanitiser.
9. Once you have completed your session please leave before the next session starts.
10. In the short term there will be a very limited take away service from the cafe.
11. Remember the social distancing rules, anyone repeatedly breaking the rules will be asked to leave.

Bray Lake Open Water Swimming

Hello, please see message below from the team at Bray Lake Open Water Swimming regarding the steps being taken to ready the centre to re-open. We will be in touch with more details soon.

Dear Friends of Bray Lake
Since the government announced that we could all start to do a little more and watersports were given the green light we have been working hard to re-open the Centre and it’s great to see that some venues are already there and doing a good job.
Unfortunately for us opening is not a simple job of just opening the doors. When we closed, we had to mothball the Centre to protect against theft and vandalism and antisocial behavior. All the staff are currently on furlough, some are ready to come back when we think it is viable to do so, however several won’t be returning for a while as they are either unable to, or have no safe local accommodation available to them. We spent the last 6 weeks trying to protect the business, its now all go to try and get the Centre ready to open and make sure the Centre is safe for the staff and our customers to return.
We are also putting in place some control measures in order to better manage the movement of members, customers and public around the site.
We are working hard to start opening sections of the operation over the next few weeks with the hope that we can get you on and in the water as soon as possible. We understand that you are all keen to get back as soon as possible please bear with us while we re-build for the new normal.

SWIM TIME UPDATE!

It's great to see so many of you are still swimming, particulary the people swimming through winter for the first time. Please find the below swim times update.

Current water temperature - 11 degrees

Tuesday 29th October - 07:30 - 09:30
Thursday 31st October - 07:30 - 09:30 LAST WEEKDAY SWIM

From Saturday 2nd November - Sunday 24th November the times will be
Saturday and Sunday mornings: 07:30 - 09:30

Saturday 30th November onwards will be
Saturday and Sunday mornings: 08:00 - 10:00

Remember if you need neoprene gloves, socks or hats we stock these in our shop.

An update on swim times as the days close in - Bray Lake Open Water Swimming

SWIM TIME UPDATE

With the lake temperature dropping to 16 degrees and the nights drawing in we will be changing our swim times from next week.

From Tuesday 17th September our swim session times will be as follows,

Morning Sessions
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 06:30 - 09:30

Evening Sessions
Tuesday and Thursday, 17:30 - 19:30
This may decrease to a 19:00 finish towards the end of September depending on safe light for the swim spotter.

We will give you a further update later in the month for October times.

As you know the nights are drawing in and the light availability will be reducing over the coming weeks, which will affect the Tues and Thurs evening swim sessions.

We will continue with these evening sessions for as long as possible for you all and will keep you posted as to the when the sessions will close for the season.
