๐Ÿค“ I've discovered a great book which I am loving reading at the moment! Wonderland by Brett Westwood & Stephen Moss - these passionate naturalists have introduced me to unexpected delights that we can all experience in the great outdoors.
I like the way it is written in a diary form so I have a new entry to read everyday! Although at the moment we can't get out there to see all of these glimpses into nature a lot are going on in our gardens and on our daily local walks. Today I am learning about Morels - mushrooms apparently?!
Following on from Michael McIntyre's advice (see previous post) - here we go everyone!

Nature can be the perfect antidote to how many of us are feeling at the moment.

Even just 5 minutes in nature can help you with your physical, mental and emotional health.

Of course, it is super important to practice responsible social distancing measures if leaving your home.

If you are lucky enough to have a garden or some green space at home, having your morning tea or coffee outside can be a great way to start the day.

What are your favourite ways to access nature at the moment? Let me know below and Happy Easter Sunday to you all!

World Parkinson's Disease Day - Walx During this time of isolation, itโ€™s more important than ever to consider those who face challenges every single day. World Parkinsonโ€™s Disease Day is a way to reflect on how simple things we are now missing, (like heading out for a walk alone) may not be possible for some folk, even in normal ti...

Fruit and Veg to eat in April!

This week's word is fudgel. It's an 18th century word meaning to pretend to work when not doing anything productive at all.
To give you an example this is when a GCSE student is earnestly staring at his iPad screen, supposedly researching a tricky Geological question, but is actually checking his social media! (Home schooling is going great everyone!๐Ÿ˜)

Here's an idea to try - an Alphabet Walk

You could try a letter a day where you spot something beginning with A on day 1, B on day 2 and so on. Or tick off as many as you can in each walk.

10 of the worldโ€™s best virtual museum and art gallery tours

Another idea to keep ourselves busy and engaged!
Can really recommend the Natural History Museum tours - click on Discover
in the menu bar at the top of the page and off you go with Sir David Attenborough as your guide.
The National Gallery is great too but the 360-view virtual touring pages made me feel a bit
dizzy!! Stick to Highlights of the Collection for a non-vertigo experience.

10 of the worldโ€™s best virtual museum and art gallery tours The originals are out of reach for now, but you can still see world-class art โ€“ without the queues or ticket prices โ€“ with an online tour of these famous museums

Some good advice from Dr Chatterjee - anyone got some good advice to add to this list?
I try to go outside a few times a day sometimes just drinking my cup of tea to have a little bit of me time!

Many of us are going to have to live a different kind of life over the coming days and weeks. These are 5 things to focus on if you are staying at home:

1. Routine is king. It will help provide structure and reduce the likelihood that you will still be in your pyjamas at 10.30am still in front of the news.

2. Watch the news at set times. Of course, it is important to be informed but try not to get into the habit of constant news checking for the latest update. Once or twice per day is sufficient and will help you feel calmer and less stressed.

3. Journalling. As I wrote about in Feel Better in 5, journaling is an incredible powerful but under-utilised tool in helping us manage our anxieties. Simply writing down how we are feeling helps, both literally and metaphorically, to take the worries out of our head and helps you to feel calmer.

4. Move every day. This is so, so important. It is essential for your physical AND your mental health. Do YouTube workouts or if you are lucky enough to have a garden, why not try moving outside. You can use bodyweight, dumbbells, skipping ropes or kettlebells.

5. Make sure you stay connected. Yes, we can't see our loved ones in person but we can absolutely use technology every single day to connect with others. It will be great for the other person, but also great for ourselves.
