End of the first week of dismantling of the 1906 II/20 Hill & Son organ in the Church of Our Lady and St Michael, Workington, within the Christ the Good Shepherd parish.
The organ is to be completely restored, retaining its charge pneumatic action throughout.

Making 150 new faceboard screws for the 1862 Schulze organ of Doncaster Minster. These are machined in beech as exact replicas of the originals, many of which have now broken or become worn.

We are back at St Mary's Church, Portsea (see https://www.nicholsonorgans.co.uk/pf/portsea) to undertake some repair of rainwater damage to the Pedal section of the organ.
The III/38 instrument was built by J.W. Walker & Sons in 1889 and 1892 and rebuilt by the same firm in 1965. We completed a major restoration project in 2022.
The work will bring the instrument back to its recently-restored condition. The church is in discussions with its architect and diocesan advisers to further protect the building against the impacts of increasingly destructive inclement weather.
After a flood in Organ loft last year today the scaffolders return and the affected parts will be removed next week by Nicholson & Co. Ltd for repair - as we let us give thanks for the gifts and skills of those craftspeople who help us in maintaining our buildings ...
