We are back at St Mary's Church, Portsea (see https://www.nicholsonorgans.co.uk/pf/portsea) to undertake some repair of rainwater damage to the Pedal section of the organ.

The III/38 instrument was built by J.W. Walker & Sons in 1889 and 1892 and rebuilt by the same firm in 1965. We completed a major restoration project in 2022.

The work will bring the instrument back to its recently-restored condition. The church is in discussions with its architect and diocesan advisers to further protect the building against the impacts of increasingly destructive inclement weather.

After a flood in Organ loft last year today the scaffolders return and the affected parts will be removed next week by Nicholson & Co. Ltd for repair - as we let us give thanks for the gifts and skills of those craftspeople who help us in maintaining our buildings ...
