Back pain myths we hear all the time in clinic 👇

The truth? Your spine is strong and designed to move.
Back pain does not automatically mean damage. In most cases, the best thing you can do is keep moving and gradually build strength.

Ever wonder why you keep picking up niggles and injuries despite training hard, eating well, and doing all the “right” things?
The missing piece might be sleep.
Research has consistently shown that athletes who sleep less than 8 hours per night are significantly more likely to get injured.
One of the most well-known studies found that adolescent athletes sleeping fewer than 8 hours per night were 1.7 times more likely to sustain an injury compared with those sleeping 8 or more hours.
Why does sleep matter so much?
During sleep your body:
- Repairs muscle tissue
- Restores glycogen stores
- Regulates hormones such as growth hormone and cortisol
- Consolidates motor learning and skill acquisition
- Improves reaction time, coordination, and decision-making
When sleep is poor:
- Recovery is compromised
- Strength and power decrease
- Reaction times slow
- Pain sensitivity increases
- Your body becomes less resilient to training load
So if you’re training well and eating well but still getting injured, don’t overlook your sleep.
Performance is built in training.
Adaptation happens during recovery.
Aim for 8+ hours per night and treat sleep as part of your training plan, not an optional extra.
