Tidy Touchlines - Griffins help out to keep Hough End litter-free 💚
On Saturday 19th September, hosted a community litter-picking event as part of the Greater Manchester Plastic Challenge and Keeping Manchester Tidy campaigns.
Tidy Touchlines is a new campaign by to tackle litter, reduce single-use plastics, and encourage better match day habits. As a major user of the facilities at Hough End, we were keen to get involved, both in the launch and with ongoing activity to tackle litter. It was great to see so many of our players, parents and coaches giving up their time to help - thank you 🙏
Marika Kingsmith, General Manager at Hough End Leisure Centre said, “It was encouraging to see a reduction in the amount of litter collected compared to the previous year, highlighting the positive impact that campaigns such as this are having on our local communities. Thanks to all our volunteers, Keeping Manchester Tidy, , and The FA for their support in making the event such a great success”.
Some things to think about when you go along to a match - as a player, spectator or coach:
✅ Take your litter home, or put it in a bin at the site
✅ Bring a refillable water bottle rather than a single use plastic bottle
✅ If you see any rubbish left by others, do your bit and pick it up
