Hawk Green Cricket Club

A great day yesterday at Rhode Field for the Hawk Green T20 Day. A superb effort from everyone to get not one, not two, but THREE full games on across what started as a very wet day but didn’t stop our U9s beating their parents, U13s losing to theirs and, finally our Legends/Misfits edging out the U21s. A day for everyone as family and friends squared off against each other and a youngest participant of only four years old!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the day - volunteers, local businesses, players and parents - we couldn’t have made it a success without you.

U13s finished their summer league season.

Losses to Bramhall (81/5 lost to 82/1) where Reuben top-scored with 28 retd & Ewan took only wicket;
NE Cheshire (99/7 lost to 102/4) which went to last ball and saw Miles take 2/2 and Ben (sponsored by GrassrootsPay) retire at 25;
and Macclesfield (103/5 lost to 160/4) with pick of the bowlers Seb (1/4) and Ben (25 retd) with the bat;
were followed up with wins v Bredbury St Marks (138/8 beat 56ao) - both Ewan (2/4) and Patrick (2/9) taking 2 wickets and Ben (27) again retiring;
and then last night in the local derby v Marple where Reuben (25) and Ben (28) both retired leaving us 106/3 in the slightly shortened 18 over game. In response Reuben and George both took 2/2 helping ensure Marple couldn’t get close (finishing 86/7) and that we finished the league season on a high!

Hawk Green CC is hosting a club/community T20 Day on Bank Holiday Monday, accompanied by a fully stocked bar 🍺 , food all day 🍔 , sweet shop for the kids 🍬 , and plenty of cricket to go round! 🏏

We also have a raffle with a mystery star prize donated by Stockport County, as well as generous donations from local businesses like The Crown Hawk Green and The Ring O’Bells Marple and many more! Tickets on sale in the clubhouse from later this week.

🏏 WEEKEND UPDATE 🏏

Blessed with a great late summer’s weekend of weather for this weekend’s matches…..

1st XI lost by 22 runs to Trafford Metrovics. 5/40 from Jordan Henderson and 4/36 from Brad Holme limited the visitors to 190 but 69 from Saqib Qadeer was in vain as the Green fell just short.

2nd XI travelled to Haslington and posted 210/8 after 46 from Nathan Nield. 3/40 from Paul Jones and 2/45 from Andy Nixon (sponsored by Alex Wilson Agencies) couldn’t stop the hosts chasing with just a few overs to spare.

Sunday 3rd XI lost out in local derby against Marple & Compstall. 3/11 from Jack Dutton with the ball and 31 from Frank Williams (sponsored by Verde Power & SED Renewables) with the bat the pick of the performers.
